I just find this to be an interesting question. Does a person have to had done HC to be a Porn star, or could they have just done softcore and/or nude magazine layouts.

The reason why I am wondering about this is due to the recent death of Felicia Tang. All of the Australian media is referring to her as a "porn star", but she does not seem to have done any hardcore work, only really nude photography and some softcore work? Personally I don't think that this qualifies her to be considered as a porn star.

Anybody else have opinions on this??

I agree with you. I think the definition of pornography is "sexually explicit" material. I don't see nudity as that sexually explicit. If softcore includes masturbation, then i guess that could be considered sexually explicit.

As for ME, a pornstar is a person who do HC stuffs. All other nude models are NOT pornstars at all.
But in my opinion, this question is something everybody has different answers.
Depends on the age, sex, family background, religion, nationality...many many things that matter.
Sure my grandmother would consider Aria a whore, my mother says she is a pornstar, while I consider her a nude model....

So as for me, there are 2 categories:
pornstars
nude models
If Felicia Tang never did any HC stuffs, she CAN'T be described as a "pornstar"

Models who have only done nude sets cannot be described as a 'Porn Star' - although there are certain sections of the "establishment" who categorise ALL nudity as 'Porn'.

I agree. If the star in question does penetration or oral/anal scenes then she is a porn star. Nude modeling is nude modeling. I hate when they call a nude model a porn star.

I agree with all those who have said that to be a pornstar one must have performed hardcore scenes, but that is not enough to make them a star.

In my opinion, out of the many 1000s of girls and women in porn, a very small number includes actual 'stars'.
These are the performers who command top dollar, who always make cover, and who will be remembered many years after they have left the scene.

Sylvia Saint was a pornstar, so was Linda Lovelace, Gauge, Vanessa Del Rio etc. These are the girls, that when searched, return millions of hits, and retain years after retirement, a dedicated following of devoted fans, both old and new.

One current pornstar who will definitively be remembered for years, is Gianna Michaels. But that is only speculation on my behalf.

not totally agree, the common definition of Pornography is: Depiction of explicit sexual acts matter for the purposes of sexual excitement. So pornography is not only hardcore boy/girl, it starts with masturbation, the word "explicit" is equivalent of "hardcore" usually used in the adult industry.
Carli banks is a porn star but she never did boy/girl, she performs solo(mastur/dildo) and girl/girl only. A porn star is a person who performs sexual explicit acts.

i'm agree with alexora, porn star is often used instead of porn actress.
A porn star is a porn actress but in my opinion a porn actress is not automatically a porn star!
if we're talking about soccer, Darren Fletcher (Man United) and Cristiano Ronaldo are football players but CR9 is a football star, not Fletcher !
