Vice, if you want any help let me know.
If its nvidia or intel I'm fairly good at configs and stuff, not much help on amd stuff. As far as forums go, mint is ok, but askubuntu is better imo. mint is too small and mint is based on ubuntu anyway. as far as thunar and xfce goes, theyre a very nice bunch.

I gotta say, with all the Distros, flavors, etc....Linux feels like this...
Joking aside, one serious question: Can I do away with needing a password for Mint? It's kind of annoying. I live alone. I won't take this PC anywhere. Hence the incessant need for a password is only proving to be useless and "Getting on my tits" (as the Brits say). Thanks for all the help guys.

the login password yes, you can disable it, the uprights terminal command "sudo" no.
"sudo" means "super user do" a special rights command that lets you act as root (god) for that one command. thats a good thing. be sure to add yourself to the usergroups for pulseaudio, video, hdd, etc. youre going to find users actually mean something in linux as opposed to windows or mac. You (your account) are user id 1000. just a tip youll learn about in a while. Do visit the link to first things todo I posted before. fossbyte is a good place. stands for freeopensources do check driver manager to make sure your graphics and chipset are actually using the correct drivers. if it says "nouveau" thats bad for any gaming and some video. also, check your system logs and look for errors. cya, and good luck
