Alternative to DVDFlick
I have a lot of full movies now in digital form and I was trying to convert one of them to dvd for a friend using DVDFlick. After 8 1/2 hours of rendering the video was encoded and the audio was 61% encoded and it still needed to combine the two and burn to dvd!
Does anyone know of a good program that converts mp4, mkv etc to dvd in a fraction of the time, 8 to 12 hours is unacceptable. Thanks, ~ Gem

Burning to discs is a drag. If not the process faults, the disc itself is damaged.
Is a USB stick an option? If it's a close friend, get an external HD |

The only DVD creation software I've used are Roxio MyDvd and Sony DVD Architect Pro. But you'll have to pay for both.
I'm not a fan of Roxio - I always found it buggy and unstable. Sony DVD Architect Pro is excellent, but I've always used it in conjunction with Sony Vegas Pro. I edit my vids in Vegas and output in AVC format for DVD Architect. While DVD Architect will handle individual clips in mp4, wmv and avi, there are no options within the program for editing the clips - e.g. trimming, making colour/contrast/brightness adjustments. That has to be done in Vegas before output. Also neither Vegas or DVD Architect Pro will work with mkv files. Roxio MyDvd will allow you to edit clips and will also work with mkv files. But beware - it can be very buggy. Sorry I don't have any other recommendations. |

Roxio software sucks, I have used some in the past and was not impressed. I have used Sony software before and it's good but very intimidating and seems really complicated but I will give it a try if i can't find a easy free alternative. I read on a tech forum someone else was also looking for an alternative to DVDFlick and someone suggested a free program called Freemake. The person who asked seemed thrilled in a reply saying "So far so good with the software recommended!! Instead of taking up to 14 hrs to burn a DVD with errors it's taking less than an hour!" so I downloaded and installed it only to have it crash every time I ran it. Very frustrating.

I got a combo Deal on Nero's Recode for $30 . But nothing free converts that fast. I need Recode so I can convert VOB's etc hopefully. and even then there's the dvdr's that weren't finalized off a dvd recorder when they went bad or corrupted and there's two programs for that too ISO buster being the main one. Usually the fastest way is getting a computer with at least 16 gb of ram, the more ram the better

There has to be something that will convert an MP4 file to a dvd structured file system in a reasonable amount of time without having to invest in an expensive computer and/or software.

search engine might help
I just simply typed this into bing ... mp4 to dvd format ... and got a few.
dvdstyler dot org/en/ is one , I think I've tried this in my quest to convert VOB free to a mp4 file actually. So I was doing the total opposite of what your trying to do. Yes I do have that program installed. I have an episode of Dolphin Cove (#1) off youtube in mp4 and it was set to burn to dvd right off the bat with a menu. That one is free I think. there's something called DevedeNG but thats mostly linux Which even after 10 years of ubuntu I'm still getting the hang of.

Any file conversion is cpu dependant. The faster the cpu, the quicker the conversion time. But can also be affected by the input file type/specs.
I've used DVDFlick maybe twice that I recall (I didn't like it's generic "one button" operation). Conversion and burning was less than an hour if I recall correctly. ConvertXtoDVD was better, but it's not free. |

One other thought - if you have Win 7 or Vista you could also try the onboard Windows DVD Maker. I haven't used it so I can't say how good it is - but it might be worth a try. I'm not sure if they still have it on Win 8 & 10.
