You're right about the term 'heel', though. Although I learned it as a wrestling term, I've heard it used elsewhere as well in recent years. Despite the fact that wrestling isn't talked about that much with people, it's cool to see that it's sunk into popular culture so deep regardless. Quote:
There is only one guy I hate more than Cena as a face-- Steve Austin. I just never could stand the guy, and I've got a few reasons for it. One, I'm from the South, and I completely hate all representations of the mindless redneck in pop culture. Austin's gimmick is actually pretty accurate, and that leads me to number two-- he reminds me of my dad. Alcoholic and ignorant. His whole post-ECW gimmick just didn't work for me. Other fans loved him, but I never did. That being said, I did like him in his ECW days. His shoots against Vince were top notch-- no bullshit, he just said what he felt and didn't rely on gimmicks. |

And we were getting on so well.
I'm very much looking forward to the hip hop/concert coming up on Raw. I'm always a Cena fan, I'm not calling him ''heel,'' but he is definitely showing some thuganomic style attitude. I know some complain about his smirking, I don't care, to me that is Cena showing what he thinks of The Rock. F you movie star |

Before I answer the question, I really want to share this video. Not about WWE or TNA. It's from Japan. Indy wrestling star Kenny Omega, wrestling a 9 year old.
That little girl's got skills, and Omega sure did let that shine. My least favorite wrestler? I like a lot of wrestlers, I am indifferent towards a couple wrestlers, I dislike a few wrestlers. Taking in all-time? There are wrestlers to dislike, but they don't make it big, so no point in bashing them if they never made it. Disliking someone who not only sucked, but was on top, is worth more. It's tough. I'll go with the guy I have never ever felt positive or smile for. The Great Khali. Other than his international appeal and size, he wasn't anything special. He's Giant Gonzales reincarnated. However, Gonzales never was the top guy. Khali is a former world champion. The fact they gave him a title reign is ludicrous, but taking in what happened during the time...it still was ludicrous. Edge was forced to vacate the title, while he was about to feud with Kane...uhm...Kane should be world champion right? What about Batista? He couldn't get a title shot while Edge was champion, but there was that opening. Hell, even Rey Mysterio would've been better, as a way to capitalize his return from knee injury. No, they gave it to Khali, producing the darkest time in my SmackDown viewing history. Fans are supposed to boo the heel because he's a bad guy, but I think a lot of boos to Khali during the time came because he couldn't wrestler. Man of his size was simply not athletic, and that's because of him. There can be an athletic 7 foot 4 guy, but a man who actually had a screwed up back when he came to WWE, now I bet it's bad knees (look at him walk, he'd beat Undertaker's entrance length), to be world champion? Add that his momentum was killed by John Cena (thank goodness), he basically was a complete dark horse in winning the title. Worst world title reign: not because it was short (again, thank goodness), but because his performances were lackluster. I take in ring ability too seriously, but some very limited guys had their strengths accentuated. Khali's strengths were accentuated for his first few months in WWE thanks to Undertaker, but after him, nothing. Overrated by WWE's office. Perfect example of them not pushing talent based on actual talent in wrestling and mic work, at the time. Unless WWE is going to push onwards to India, there's no need for him at all. I can mention Hornswoggle, but he's a joke character, never meant to be taken seriously. Now if Khali was a bodyguard or some presence and nothing more, he'd be tolerable. As a singles wrestler, it's miserable. |

Don't think that I didn't consider making you an eagleeagle Hornswaggle sig last night as payback for that Steve Austin post yesterday.
Nah, we completely differ on who we like at times, but there's nothing wrong with it. I'm actually looking forward to the rap battle as well. I'm confident Cena will bring his a-game, and I'm hoping we'll catch Rocky on a good night as well. |

I like your thinking

Reason: I'm nearly 29...
My least favorite Wrestler of all time . It would be easy to say Giant Gonzalez, Kurrgan or Jay Leno, but I also go by the rule of how long did the person suck for. I'll let Ricky Morton explain why this man is the winner by unanimous decision( bitter much, Ricky ? ) I have to correct him though, the match with Bret when he lost the WWF title was good, and the match with Undertaker at Wrestlemania 12 was too. I thought I was having a weird nightmare last year when Nash turned up at Summerslam , one swift powerbomb and all of Punk's momentum was gone, after all these years, he could still piss me off, still stealing thunder, still giving nothing back, still making me wish death, well not quite, but you get the picture. All in all, I've made him sound like the best heel ever... I swear, nothing could be further from the truth. |

My Least Favorite wrestler I had to really think on this one because their isn't many I don't like but, then it hit me
I wasn't into Hulkamania and I feel he's a gloryhog (not like most wrestlers are) it like in his mind he saying I don't want people to forget about me so let me steal the spotlight from the youngguns and the wrestlers that need it, I understand what he did for wrestling but, he needs to relax, stay in the background and give the youngguys and the guys that payed their due their time in the sun like what Sting doing in Impact Wrestling. So Raw going back in time in 2003 where Cena was Rapping and The Rock was doing concerts, The Rock has to qoute, unquote "Bring It" because Cena looking were strong right now and it might be too big of a hill to climb but, I am not going to doubt The Rock hopefully he will go back to his roots and finally get on the board.

I'm right there with you Carlj1 on the least favorite wrestler- I can't stand Hulk Hogan. I never bought into the whole hulkamania thing, his move set was pathetically limited and the whole "hulking up" thing just made me turn away from whatever match it was in disgust. I know all wrestlers have their moves their known for, but matches with hogan always bored me. I had stopped watching by the time he went heel and went all Nwo on us, but I'm not even sure that would have made him watchable to me.

I'm surprised how few people consider his nWo run as a midlife crisis. Looking at it, he totally fit the bill of an aging guy trying to be hip again. I did consider Hulk Hogan, but the difference that put Khali over was that Hogan had 1, just 1 moment where I felt the closest to being a Hulkamaniac: Wrestlemania 18 with Rock. Those Canadian fans were so into that match, it sucked me in, since Hogan was so beloved there. Other than that moment, I totally agree with the criticisms of the guy. Plus, in talking, he only had one speed, loud, filled with catchphrases, ultimately one-dimensional. Some of the best talkers vary it up. Hogan didn't.
Thoughts on SD. 1.) Only Mr. Excitement would book a steel cage match as the opener of a TV show. A really good opener to SD. Some use of the cage, some physicality, nearfalls and near escapes. The finish was interesting. Santino retained by Vickie's mistakes. Swagger's head was hit by the cage door. That was a pretty hard shot, clunk. So now I have to accept Santino being US champion. Most likely a reward for his work in the Elimination Chamber, showing the amazing crowd response he had, and that he's still getting. 2.) Teddy Long suddenly felt sad when Laurinaitis said he was going to book Kane and Aksana. He made Teddy say please, apologize, but they are going to wrestle? This is good, it eliminates possibilities of them wrestling at Wrestlemania. Don't need another Lawler and Cole match. 3.) Drew McIntyre getting promo time?! He said Johnny Ace will give Drew another chance, against Khali? David Otunga made Khali sit at ringside, and replaced Drew's opponent with Hornswoggle! Drew won by ref stoppage! Now he's dangerous! Khali played ultimate buzzkill when he chopped Drew down. Damn, but Drew still won. Happy camper. 4.) Aksana crying to Teddy Long. How (not) cute. Laurinaitis was shown getting ready, wearing some stockings, or long tights? Comical. An easy win by Mark Henry, which definitely quiets down feelings of him getting buried. If he lost to Zeke, then the talk makes more sense. I saw some blood from his nose. 5.) The stip was that if Long won his match, Aksana would be forced to wrestle Kane. Kane was about to go to the ring, until Kane was RKO'd. Long rolled up Johnny Ace for the win, and that's it. So Aksana won't be in the ring with Kane. Damn. No actual wrestling happened. Yay. Balances each other out. 6.) Good match between the Colons and R-Kingston. Since the faces won, this could mean a rematch at Wrestlemania, hopefully not the dark match. It would make a good opener. 7.) Daniel Bryan said he has charisma and sex appeal, as well as veganism, and technical wrestling skill! Wow! That was hilarious. Sheamus was saying how lucky he was, and went to talking about AJ. Just when she was about to retort, D-Bryan stopped her and told her to shut up! Yes! He said AJ got in the way, literally. That's true, ask Big Show. Sheamus then got serious and said he will end Bryan's lucky streak. Good stuff, absolutely necessary. Out of the 4 major matches, the world title is the weakest in hype. This is a good help. 8.) Entertaining 6 man closing the show. It started out well, ended with chaos. All the respective rivals all left the match brawling, and Orton closed it on Miz. Very good, the heels got a lot of room to impress. Miz even did a drop kick. Rhodes and Bryan did the most work, and Sheamus took the most punishment. Good stuff, and Orton and Kane closed the show, battling through the crowd. |

The opening was hilarious. Johnny standing all proud inside the cage, what the hell is up with Jack Swagger's hair ? The cage match was fine, I guess. Santino as United Sates champion, I'm indifferent. I once thought Swagger was money.

Drew won a match, amazing. Hornswoggle is a start. Or lets be evil, next week Hornswoggle will win the rematch, I hope I'm not tempting fate. Good to see Mark Henry back to winning ways, Ezeqiel Jackson better have a backup plan. I sometimes complain about tag team partners coming out on their own, that is one of those little things that bug me. If Truth and Kofi do get to challenge the Colon's at WM, they better come out together. Again, this match was fine. Daniel Bryan showing his true colors ? Is it wrong of me to hope for some backstage banter with Bryan threatening AJ. Then it turns out to be a full scheme, and the big dumb Irish man gets Conned. Bryan retains. Sheamus is already established, Bryan hasn't really got a big decisive win, surprise me WWE. if only... |
