yes, they're palatable; i'm tryna EAT my way thru the pile. but i'm moving, etc etc, and time's up. i've reduced the pile from about 850 to 800.

soup kitchen etc won't take them if they're even ONE day expired. and i don't have a vehicle to schlep them around looking for one which will. i can get them as far as a neighborhood dumpster -- maybe. lotta time, lotta work, and i'll prolly get accused of trespassing. or illegal dumping.

and in the end, for what? so the full cans can go out intact in THEIR trash same as they would have from MINE?

forget the cans for the moment. weight/mess is complicating things.

say u wanna pitch a BOX OF COOKIES for w/e reason (just don't LIKE, say). do u a) drop in trash as is, b) dump into trash loose and rescue box, or c) dump into sink/toilet and rescue box.

i have long done (c), but always wonder about water wasted. (obsessive abt rinsing box!)

moreover, now i'm wondering whether contaminants in the water supply even helps anything. wouldn't the world be better served by the food trapped and rotting away in the landfill?

so is (b) the right answer? should i be shifting to this as a default? it sure would be faster.

still need to suppress urge to rinse out box to perfection, but.....
