2 related issues:

1) mentioned before, but the message box limit needs to be way higher. it is a CONSTANT battle tryna keep this under the limit. i get depressed just LOOKING at it...until once every few months or so i bite the bullet and make a stab at whittling it down. 2-3 HOURS later, i've removed, at most, 4-5 items...which soon fill right back in!

i'm not trying to "stockpile" things, but nor do i wanna delete things from mods, admins, etc which may prove important in the future. and the problem is made worse b/c they all get a pass about my box limits and cram even more in there...so the reality is, my box sits pinned at 108 or w/e for long stretches on end!

the only real way to shrink it is to offline the messages into files somewhere. ok, fair enuf, but ir's still a pain to do! (and recently i lost everything in an HDD failure, so now i regret even what little i'd done of that -- next time i'll "offline" them to some OTHER place on the cloud....)

the raise of the limit from 75 to 100 brought a brief respite (no longer pinned at 82!), but not nearly enuf. 2 weeks later i was right back to the same ole mess, now around 106. and forever depressed about it.

i pity all those folks who have done me solids or sent me something truly helpful b/c i very very rarely reply to any of them! not even a "thank u" -- i want to, i try, but it is usually 3-4 months later before i am ABLE to, so i end up forgetting.

pls raise the limit to something WORKABLE (i'd say 1000), or else turn off this "squeeze in" power. if one cannot RESPOND to an important message -- especially from a mod/admin -- than don't let them SEND any in the first place!!

(i think a message like "sorry, dude's inbox is full" would be preferable to succeeding in getting something thru only to get SNUBBED by lack of reply)

or -- compromise -- how about the power to stretch the limit onesself, WHEN REPLYING TO MODS AND ADMINS? if they can push limit to 110 cramming stuff in there, let me push it to 120 giving proper replies.

2) why do ppl say "pls check your PM" in various request threads? if content is prohibited, content is prohibited. i'm not sure hiding it in DMs is a great solution.

just as u don't allow ppl to carry on convos in non-english languages, i'd suggest u not allow content to be swapped in a non-public manner. w/e link some person is kind enuf to provide for me should be made beneficial to all.

more importantly -- per this thread -- i can't even thank anyone for the links!

There are a number of threads and prolific posters I follow but constantly changing hosts makes keeping up with quality content a part-time job!! Why there is such disdain for zippyshare and 1fichier is a mystery to me.

1. Your account is set to automatically save Sent Messages, this will reduce your message storage. If you want to continue automatically saving Sent Messages, I suggest you delete from your inbox all replied messages because that message, with your reply, is in your Sent Folder.
   
2. Message storage is set by UserGroup, it can not be set for individual members. We have more than 70k Registered Users, so significantly increasing Message storage to more than 100 will consume too much server space. Message storage for Registered Users has been increased from 100 to 150.
   
3. Downloading messages is extremely easy; click one of the links at the bottom right of any message list page depending on the desired format.
   

   Download all Private Messages as:
   XML | CSV | Text
   

Remember, there are 2 types of computer users, those who backup their data and those who will backup their data. Nono is an example of the later, I suggest you be the former.

i already do that. that's why my message count is 106, rather than, say, 212....

different matter.

just got a msg from a mod/admin who had CC:ed 6 other mods/admins. when i replied, it said i was limited to 3, not the whole 7.

so i arbitrarily chopped off 4 of his 6 CC:s. who will now be totally lost if he follows up further with the original list.

yeah, i could hand-send them fresh copies of my msg, but that's a pain. board rly puts a lot of obstacles in the way of obeying/responding to mods and admins!!

I'm fairly sure it's been an option since I joined as I recall backing mine up when I ran out of space.
