Having said that the Corsair CA-SP211UK SP2500 2.1 speaker system is great if you do mainly gaming and movie watching. For mostly listening to music on your pc with very little desk space the Acoustic Energy AE26-06B AEGO M 2.1 speaker system is also great sounding. Not as hifi sounding as mine, but much better sounding than the low-fi Logitech 2.1 systems. Both would fit his $300 budget. As he said both music and movies. If he has the desk space get the Reloop ADM-5 active speakers I got, which cost me £125 the pair(which are the size of bookshelf hifi speaker). One has the amp built into it, other is passive and feeds off the amp in the right one. Sub can be added later... Something like the Pioneer S21W active subwoofer for £99. If he doesn't have much desk space at all, then it depends if he listens to music more than movies or vice versa... |

I'm gonna agree with everything Itchy has stated. Those are great choices and I'd probably end up getting the Corsairs. They make great products and would do you just fine if you're not into audiophile stuff. And if you were I'd assume you'd get some high end headphones. Plus those corsairs are slick lookin!

IMO invest your money in Audiotechnica ATH-A900 headphones. Your ears and neighbours will love you for it. Easy to drive, no need for an amplifier with these babies, just plug and play.

Nah, if you want headphones, you should consider the following-
1. have lots of money -> 2. have some money -> 3. have no money -> 4. have even less money -> and don't think the superlux is cheap crap. Its what I mainly use and I personally prefer it over my brother's M30's. |
