The Heath Ledger, Joker is the best Bad guy ever! It's going to be a long time before someone can "live" a character like Heath did.

Originally this character was supposed to be Bizarro basically...much like the computer villain was supposed to be Brainiac. And much like how Lex Luthor was supposed to be one of the villains again too.
Perhaps if this Evil Superman hadn't drunk so much booze, he could have won out.
Incidentally, it wasn't lost on fans that the colors of Superman's costume in Superman Returns closely resembled the colors of Evil Superman....leading to complaints.
