If you have old HDV footage lying around, somewhere, it's very simple going back to that and use a few tools/plugins to enhance video quality.
However, since we're not talking about big-budget Hollywood movies, here, where both the studio as well the director has all the time, money and resources to scan/remaster his movie to 4K and apply HDR/Dolby Vision color/luminosity to their liking, the best you can get is an "upscaled" AI-processed/filtered quick job, these days.

I don't think, these days, any studio has all the money and time, nor they care about remaster their old DVD titles, to make a few people happy.
Production costs have severely got cut down since the OF craze started.
It's already hard to put out any new scene, let alone remaster a bunch of old DVDs that are probably OOP since years.
