speaking of FAQs, i don't understand the cliquey "check your PM" responses for music requests. isn't that against the rules that all posts have to be in english, with no "insiders only" type content? what could be more insider than telling the OP here's the album u wanted while 10,000 other readers can go screw themselves?

i know it has something to do with masking piracy, but what is the diff with the PATM, tv and movie boards? why are two traded openly, one needs a 10-year embargo, and one is done in unseemly stealth?

When it comes to rules, staffers can enforce them any way they please.

If you do something not banned by the rules, they can still give you shit: I received a 366 day infraction for speaking about something, and no rule was actually broken.

well, yeah, that's fine, but clearly there is something going on with copyright law. but why are copyrighted tv shows fine while copyrighted movies (recent) aren't?! as i have found thru my t0rr3nt habits, film studios are just as protective, if not moreso, about their copyrighted tv shows.

and PATM? why are a string of copyrighted "scenes" ok -- even @ 89 mins apiece -- but a full, copyrighted, movie must be 27 years old?! (forgot this one on my earlier list!) even if copyright law changed in 95, does it really say something about "intact" piracy vs "fragmented" piracy?!?!?!

just confused. a board that bans all trading makes sense to me, and a board that allows all trading -- while illegal -- makes sense to me. this hodgepodge of limits and dates for diff media, however -- what is the logic here??

Well, posters are allowed to have their own threads in GBSL, so having your own thread dedicated to one model wouldn't be against the rules. (Please note, that members are limited in the number of threads they can have.)

That being said, members are also allowed to start model threads in GBSL, like PATM threads, where anyone can post to them.

So if you want to start your own model thread where only you can post, then I would make that very clear when when starting the thread, otherwise members would be likely to assume it's a community thread.

04a. Only one thread per model is allowed. Before starting a model specific thread use the search function to find if a thread for the model already exists. New model specific thread names must only include the model's full name.

I think that explains very well that a model thread is a community thread.

It's not necessarily cliquey. In most cases, I do this for two reasons:

1. Requests are found many times on hosts that are not PS-approved.
2. I will PM links to posters requesting a specific artist's CD, where they can find more releases.

As a sidebar to #1, by rule, I am prevented from simply refreshing a dead link; I have to do a full repost. That means, in many cases, downloading from a non-approved PS host, and reupping to a PS-approved post, along with all the other required info for a music post. As I currently mod in four different sections on a daily basis, and have a full-time job, I simply do not have the time to do all of the above requirements for "standard" music posts. I am simply trying to fill individual requests, and along with the help of others, I think we do a pretty fair job.

But if admins would allow some other hosts here (and I do not profess to know what is required for approval, having requested approval for filehosts occasionally throughout the years), IMO, it would be much easier for me (and others) to do actual full posts, instead of this sort of "stealthy" posting you refer to.

(And if someone wants a link to a request I filled via PM, all one has to do is ask... I just did this with the recent release of The Beatles' Revolver Super Deluxe box set, sending a good link to a total of four people. Almost every Rapidgator link I saw for that set died within 24 hours of posting, so I make no apologies for seeking out other links, regardless of filehost, in order to fill a request.)
