Top CBS foreign correspondent Lara Logan suffered a "brutal" sexual assault at the hands of a mob in
Egypt while covering the downfall of president Hosni Mubarak, her US network says.

"She and her team and their security were surrounded by a dangerous element amidst the celebration.
It was a mob of more than 200 people whipped into a frenzy," CBS said in a statement on Tuesday.

I hate to say this but with the shit that was going on there this was bound to happen sooner or later. A pretty young girl reporting in the middle of hundreds (if not thousands) of angry (and whipped to a frenzy) people? That was a dangerous situation at best. Common sense should have told them that this was not a good area to be in at night.

Im not condoning what they did. They should catch the bastards and castrate them. But they probably won't be caught.

Not that it makes any difference, but Lara Logan is South African.

Being a war corresponded is a highly dangerous occupation, and angry mobs are highly unpredictable: Lara must be commended for her courage.

Also to be commended, is the group of Egyptian women who rescued her from the mob.

shes actually 39 ( I think thats what they said.) not that thats old, but not really young either. Its still hard to believe it happened under any circumstances. Shes been doing this job for years, working in very tough places. But I dont think shes ever really had a minor injury up until now.
