The ninth edition of the RWC got underway with the hosts Japan securing a comfortable 30-10 win over Russia. The crowd had to wait until nearly half time before they could properly cheer though, as Russia spoilt their party by scoring the first try of the tournament and hanging on unexpectedly to the lead for another half an hour.

Thrilling match between Wales and Australia. A surge from Wales late in the first half gave them a 15 point advantage at half time, then Australia came out fighting to get back to one point behind, leaving a nervy last 20 minutes.
Final score Wales 29 - 25 Australia
Good to see Wales kicking a couple of drop goals, it always amazes me that this doesn't happen more often.
