More than $6 million in bribes were paid, according to The Daily Mail, who also reported that "[Lori] Loughlin and her husband 'agreed to pay bribes totaling $500,000 in exchange for having their two daughters designated as recruits to the USC crew team'". Loughlin's husband Mossimo Giannulli has also been charged. It was also reported that Huffman paid a $15,000 charitable contribution. Her and her husband William H. Macy had planned to do the same for a younger daughter of theirs later this month, according to reports.

It was alleged that Huffman's daughter was able to cheat on her SATs as a result of the payments. According to the Daily Mail:

Huffman had the site where he daughter took the SATs moved from her own high school to a test center West Hollywood.

Her test was then administered by a proctor who had flown in from Tampa and told investigators that he 'facilitated cheating, either by correcting the student's answers after the test or by actively assisting the student during the exam.'

In this case, Huffman daughter scored a 1420, which was a 400 point improvement from her PSAT results just one year prior.

Soon after the proctor was paid $40,000 by the same organization that Huffman would later give a $15,000 donation according to the documents.

I find it hard to care about this "scandal" considering college athletic programs are all about bribery, payouts, and cheating. How many D1A (sorry, FBS) football players actually made sufficient grades to get into college? How many of them go to class(ever)? How many of them can even fucking read? How many of the big name schools cover up rapes by their players?
Plenty of malfeasance to go around in American colleges.

The kids come from wealthy families.

I am sure since school grade K and all the way to 12, they were sent to the best schools.

Their parents shouldn't have to bribe anyone for these kids to be admitted into the best colleges.

If they have applied themselves from grade school to high school, they will make good scores on the SAT and have the SAT scores and their high school activities and ranking enough to get them into the finest college.

Now since they couldn't get into the finest colleges without their parents bribing someone, it meant they had shitty grades from grade 1-12.

Well, whose fault is that?

It's not just the kids' fault!

It's also their parents!

For not paying attention to how well their kids are doing in school and for not catching it early enough to establish discipline and a school work regiment.

So if the kids got into colleges because of bribes, will they be allowed to continue their education?

I think they should be kicked out.

If some of them have already earned a degree, should that degree be invalidated?

some people are just dumb regardless how much they apply themselves

there are not that many that could legitimately get into a Harvard or Yale (if previous standards were maintained) no matter if they studied all day for years
