![]() So how come with windows 10 or whatever they call it WMP is like a bomb to use? Rarely it'll work if you don't scroll. Usually it just crashes after you scroll once. This didn't happen ever before so how do I fix this? The one thing that was reliable is fucking shit now. What was the point in ruining that?

![]() WMP performance has varied with each version of Windows. Some versions had mpg/mpeg support, and others didn't, for example.
I've not yet switched to Win10 and I don't use WMP, but I suspect codec support has changed again and you are attempting to play an unsupported (or not fully supported) format. |

![]() I love how EVERY program on windows 10 doesnt work, yet they keep begging us to upgrade to it, im generally curious when they realize in January of 2020( the date support for windows 7 ends) what Microsoft will do when they see it still has 36% share of users, its at 39% now, so they are estimating it will go down a few spots but still, they are gonna face the reality that millions of PC'S esp home users are going to be unsupported based on their scare tactics to get us to upgrade, like honestly, i have the 100$ or whatever it is to upgrade today if i wanted to buy windows 10 home, but every article i read just tells me the supports are awful, the screen turns blue, and lets not forget that it restarts the computer BY ITSELF when updating, rather than let you choose, aka, as windows 7 does.

![]() They won't do anything. You can dig up similar reports concerning Windows XP...and before that Win98.
This has been an issue with EVERY version of Windows. Early reports of Win7 weren't very good either. It wasn't until SP1 that it was widely accepted. |

Media Player Classic was much better but VLC could always handle codecs better despite a lousy GUI. I suggest that the latest version of SMPlayer is even better than VLC. Cheers |

![]() I stopped using WMP 10 years ago.
You just want to play a video on your hard drive, not even streaming off the net, and every time it wants to connect to the internet, for what? To tell Microspy what I am watching? Plus back then when I stopped using it, it wouldn't play 720p and 1080p while many other free video players already could. |

![]() If i was you id download potplayer, i have had it for years and its free to download-
plays every format - has regular updates, all that good stuff. You just need to get whatever your computer supports, 64 bit or 32, but get it, its really good. And it doesnt make videos appears in gray outlines and freezes as VLC does |

![]() Best combo is MPC-HC + latest LAV Filters (32 or 64 bit, depending on your OS).
LAV Filters have also optimized playback and decoding of HEVC as well bitstream support for the latest immersive audio codecs (Dolby Atmos & DTS:X) for 4K Blu-Ray content. If you use your computer as a HTPC, MPC-HC is definitely A MUST.
