The 29 year old weighed barely 83 lbs.

How were they able to do this under the noses of their unsuspecting neighbors???

So now we taxpayers have to pay to feed them and house them and give them free medical care?

The care they will receive for the rest of their lives in prison will be better than the care they gave their own children.

A neighbor said he saw the kids at late night walking in a circle around eachother at night through the windows like in a ritual type thing for hours. They all had the same outfits, haircuts. Seems like a cult to me, the parents were i guess 'leading' the kids in that way, horrendous, but i agree with the other statements, how did nobody notice? As far as school go's, the house was listed as a school and the father the principal, i guess in California you dont need a license or proof to pretend your home is a school? odd rule...

I'm sure we'll learn more about the motive eventually. Death seems too easy but sometimes it seems necessary. I don't know what true justice would be in this case but right now, with this limited information, I'd be tempted to rule the easy route if I were the judge.

What I don't get is that none of their neighbours seems to have said anything until now. The Independent article linked by Namcot has a video clip of a couple of neighbours voicing their concerns. Did anyone say anything to the authorities? Did the authorities fail to act if anyone actually did bring this to their attention?


I understand the 'parents' (for want of a more suitable word!) have been charged with torture. Is the death penalty available for that? - not that I would advocate the death penalty in this case. There are a few over here who have served 'whole life' sentences (i.e. with no prospect of release/parole) that I would have been prepared to put the noose around their necks myself years ago - Brady and Hindley for two. Child murderers are the absolute scum of the earth and should be snuffed out without any unecessary delay.

I agree prison is too good for this pair. If the prison system in the USA is anything like ours here in the UK, they'll be protected from harm from other inmates and it will cost $millions to care for them for the rest of their lives. Far better that they should be dumped on an uninhabited island, somewhere not too warm but with a water supply, and left to fend for themselves. They should be provided with a basic first-aid kit and nothing else. That would ensure they don't die too soon from a little cut or scratch that went bad.

I sincerely hope that those kids quickly get placed with decent families for fostering/adoption after they have their immediate medical problems sorted out. I'd guess it's doubtful that they can be cared for all together, so frequent contact must be arranged to enable them to support each other to get over their horrific experience as best they can. Professional counselling is all well and good but brotherly/sisterly love would be far more effective IMO.

As long as California allows any person to officially designate their home as a 'school' in order to home-school their kids, this kind of shit is to be expected.
