By Lauren Moraski June 20, 2012 9:25 AM (CBS News) Kristen Stewart tops Forbes' highest-paid actress list, raking in $34.5 million between May 2011 to May 2012. Stewart, 22, is also the youngest woman on Forbes' list by 16 years. Why Stewart? Her multiple appearances in the "Twilight" film series has helped propel her to the top of list. "Suddenly, the star becomes indispensable and the studio has to pay up," Forbes explains. "That's why Kristen Stewart has vaulted to the top of our annual list of the highest-paid actresses in Hollywood." Coming in second is Cameron Diaz at $34 million over the same time-frame, followed by Sandra Bullock with $11 million. Rounding out the top five are Angelina Jolie and Charlize Theron. Julia Roberts is the sixth highest-paid actress, according to Forbes, followed by Sarah Jessica Parker and Meryl Streep. Overall, though, Forbes points out that Hollywood women trail far behind men in earnings. "The 10 women who make up our list earned a total $200 million compared to the $361 million brought in by our top 10 men," Forbes noted. 2. Cameron Diaz 3. Sandra Bullock 4. Angelina Jolie 5. Charlize Theron 6. Julia Roberts 7. Sarah Jessica Parker 8. Meryl Streep 9. Kristen Wiig 10. Jennifer Aniston |

![]() You've gotta be kidding me, right? Out of those names, Kristen Stewart has the least experience, and is the most boring. I don't get the Twilight appeal as I found her character boring to the point of annoyance. Not just Twilight, but she was in a movie starring Robert De Niro: "What Just Happened?" She played one of De Niro's daughters, and her character, her acting, was practically identical to her Twilight role. So I wonder, is this woman seriously a boring person? Is that the emo appeal or something? I'm confused.
Cameron Diaz at number 2? Hmm. I don't know, her, Jennifer Aniston, and Charlize Theron (least frequent of the three) are kind of in the B-movie dimension. Aside from Theron, none of them got Oscar nominations I believe, and most of the movies, if not all of the movies they've been in, don't rank among classics. Nor are they classic acting capable. Theron though has at least one of that under her belt. To me, that's her acting in the movie, Monster. Kristen Wiig? For what, Bridesmaids? It was a funny movie. She was also in The Brothers Solomon, and isn't she in Saturday Night Live? The Brothers Solomon happens to be written by an SNL alum in Will Forte. All I know of Sarah Jessica Parker is her likeness being spoofed in South Park. Something about a horse face. Everyone else on the list, I can understand. |

![]() Have salaries dropped considerably in later years? Mid 2000 A-list actors/actresses were getting 20+ mil/film. And now Kristen Stewart tops with 34 mil in a year, wow. Also funny that SJP and Diaz outearns Meryl Streep.

![]() A shortage of talent or the failure to display it is no barrier to success. Everything is as it ever was. Strange to think she (Kristen Stewart) may be able to act, but is too shy to do so. When she can be arsed to perform I may relent and watch one of her films with my other, until then.....

![]() Amanda Seyfried isn't even on the top 10?
Sandra Bullock from Speed? Julia Roberts from Pretty Woman? Cameron Diaz from The Mask? Who knew they were still working? Casting couches in Hollywood are getting a battering by the looks of this list. Talent needn't apply. And who the heck is Kristen Wiig?

![]() I'm not surprised by Kristen Stewart and expect to see Jennifer Lawrence on that list very soon. I'm stunned Kristen Wiig is on there, she made one OK comedy and not much else. Charlize Theron I thought would be higher & Jennifer Aniston keeps plodding on making shitty movie after shitty movie so no surprise there either.
Angelina Jolie & Julia Roberts star power endures even though they don't exacty make great movies. Quote:

Ultimately, it comes down to sales. Sandra Bullock and Meryl Streep, as fine as any actress out there, aren't bringing hundreds of millions of dollars of profits to the studios. Therefore, they won't be paid as if they do. And just because you had a hit movie doesn't mean you get to earn off of that. You'll be overpaid on the next movie... It's not talent, it's sales. For instance, you and a group of people sell apples all day and you'll be paid on how many you sell, not how well you were perceived by the customers. Sure, you might get compensation due to repeat business and cultivating client relationships, but those douche-bags over there who sells tons of apples because they removes their shirts or they have a nice jaw-line? They could be as dumb as sacks of dirt and yet they'll make more than you every day. They'll get promoted faster and make even more money. Sucks, but that's sales. Not talent, it's positive numbers in any fashion that you make it happen. |
