iTunes Questions/Issues
Hey everyone,
I'm brand new to iTunes...once I've downloaded my songs, where do they go? I don't see a folder installed on my computer where they've downloaded to...I see them in my iTunes library, but not actually on my computer? So my follow-up question is: if they're only "saved" on iTunes, can I transfer them to my computer? Or are they stuck in iTunes hell? Many thanks! |

usually go to your "MY Computer" or Computer area.; in the music section. heck even the tv shows go in there although I think they've started seperating those. I'm like hey CSI is not music.. it'd be under your name's folder and under music then itunes unless you've set itunes to download elsewhere or you've got that folder on another drive which is what I did because one of my drives didn't have the room.

The music files you have downloaded are already in your computer: once you are in iTunes, go to Preferences and select the Advanced tab. This will show you the location of your iTunes Media Folder.
Tracks purchased from the iTunes Store can only be played on your computer and iPod, and are not transferable to others. Music from CDs or that you have downloaded from other places (eg: from our music section) does not have this restriction.

Forgive the bump, but didn't feel the need to start a new thread...]

Reason: added reason for sticking thread
* There is an issue with updating iTunes to 11.1.4 * After updating, most users are reporting various problems, including a missing msvcr80.dll file and not being able to open iTunes. This is applicable to Windows, but not known if it affects Mac users at this point. If you have run into issues updating, there are several routes to go down, which are detailed in the iTunes Support Boards, found on Apple's website. To summarize, these include: 1. Doing a system restore to a point prior to the attempted update. (This is what I did, and it worked.) 2. Uninstalling all Apple products, including iTunes, Quicktime, Bonjour, etc., and reinstalling. According to several board posters, yes, your library is maintained if following this option. (and one poster claims that Bonjour is causing the problems) - others include... 3. Ramrodding the update continually until it takes. and 4. Updating in safe mode. Advice: Don't update until a later version is released. I's not clear if Apple is actually aware and/or is working on a fix, but there are a ton of unhappy campers on Apple right now.... (Note to staff: I stickied the thread due to the issue being so widespread and consistent. Can/should be unstuck once/if this particular issue is resolved.) |

FYI the iTunes issue seems to be solved in 11.1.5. I've been using it without issue.

Even then, I waited a few days and checked out the support board to make sure there weren't cascade failures in updating... when I saw that there weren't any, I took a deep breath, and clicked the "update" button. So far, so good... |
