Guys do We really Need Oron ?.

Sorry if there have been a bunch of topics like this already, search came up with nothing.

I'm wondering why so many people are using Oron.com to host their files, IMHO this hosting-site seems to be the worst I have ever encountered. As a Non-premium user the DL speed is roughly half, if not less, than that of all others I have used. And once you've finally gotten the file DLed, you're looking at a wait time of anywhere from 4-8 hours untill you can start another.

Now, I appreciate the contributions of everyone in this community, and don't mean to detract from that, I'm just frustrated with Oron.com's widespread use even with it's poor free user limitations. And I'm trying to find out if there's any valid reason for that frustration.

And before someone get's all high and mighty and says "If you've got a problem with it being so slow, then you should get a premium membership, if not then just be happy you're getting free stuff". Because of my less than spectacular internet connection, there's really not much benefit in the premium membership for me, aside from waving the un-godly wait after downloading a file, which is a load of bull in the first place.


tl;dr: Oron.com is below industry standards, tell me why you use it

There are a bunch of these threads already? I searched both Oron and oron.com. If I had known I would've just posted in or read them.

Still, I feel that I raise a valid argument, Oron seems a poor choice when compared to hotfile, depositfiles, megaupload (don't see this used as much anymore, any insights as to why?), filesonic, and rapidshare (I know some ppl used to have problems with RS, but I've never had any). So why is it seeing so much use? Is it paying ppl for downloads of their files or something, or is it just cheaper Premium than the others?

I think it has something to do with your "less than spectacular internet connection" because, with myself also being a non-premium user of Oron, I get respectable speed. However, I will say that, in the video threads I frequent, I don't really encounter that many Oron links (there are a few), but when I do use it, my speed is, again, respectable.

My recommendation: Use filestube to find the same file on another host.

I don't like it, I've never got more than 100KB/s when downloading
from them, but generally steer clear of them and other pure cashwhore
hosts, so it's not really a problem.

Really, why not use a host that will give you a little self respect..?
Crap, this one makes Vilesonic look like Rapidshare on a premium account.
Takes a day to download a post with eight freakin' links on it at 60kbs a sec.

Hell, even their premium accounts crap out after a gig and a half daily.

I only ever tried it once - never again.

After all the waiting and other rings and hoops, it just told me my ISP was already d/loading the file.

There is nothing I want so badly I am putting up with their crap, so I simply ignore any post with Oron in it.

I always wonder why downloaders continue to get upset about the choice of hosts when its clear the whole dynamic of who uploads and why they upload has been turned on its head by the introduction of rewards & affiliates programs

All hosts have users complaining of

waiting times between downloads
download speeds
download limits
uploads being inaccessible

All hosts have people who claim the exact opposite

If a host is truly bad people will move even the link dumping cash whores if their links arent getting hits which generate rewards

Because we get tired of having to put up with the sub-standard crap.

No, they just spam their links on EVERY forum out there.
If they can get a couple of dozen idiots on every forum to put up with it,
they make their money.

I understand that, but where are all the people saying Oron is such a good host..?
I never see anyone saying "Oh, thank you for the Oron links."
Needless to say, the only people I hear defending it are the people making money off of it.
