Blue laws suck.

I live in Tennessee and we have this thing called a Blue Law. I don't know all of the ins and outs of it but it basically means that you can only buy liquor by the bottle Monday-Saturday from 8am till 11pm and the stores have to be closed on Christmas, Thanksgiving, Labor day, 4th of July and New Years day. How many other members of this forum board are affected by this law?

In North Carolina they are open Mon.through Sat. but they close at 9:00pm. And they are also closed on Holidays.

Forgot another part of NC's law I've run into being a heathen that stops you from buying on Sunday mornings.

I lived in a small town in Texas a long time ago.
and couldn't get wine on Sunday or even beer in a bottle.

My Mom also tells a story about trying to buy baby bottles in Oklahoma
on a Sunday when I was a baby, and the grocer couldn't sell them to her
because they were made of glass.

However he gave them to her and she came back and paid for them the next day.

We never got that bad as to not be able to buy beer on Sunday, some counties don't sell till after 12:00 and some will sell at 9:00am just like every other day.

Ouch.............In Oz we can buy takeaway 7 days a week til about 11:00pm public holidays included.

What's the point of having a public holiday if the bottleshops are closed

In Louisiana, you used to be unable to buy at a hardware store on Sundays. Working on the Sabbath and all that crap. I think Home Depot got that law repealed.

Maybe they didn't want anybody cutting off their fingers or falling off ladders with their hangovers?

That does not surprise me about Australia, you guys have drinking down to a science, the only drinking song we have is 99 bottles of beer on the wall.
