Paris Hilton has been detained by police after she was caught with cannabis in her handbag at Corsica airport, say reports.

The 29-year-old had just arrived at Figari airport on the French island on a private jet from Paris, police sources told AFP.

Officers found less than 1g of cannabis in her handbag, and released her soon afterwards without charge.

It is understood she was then due to travel by yacht to the upmarket resort of Porto Cervo in Sardinia.

The socialite had posted pictures of her luxury flight from Paris on her Twitter account.

One picture showed the hotel heiress reclining on a double bed on the luxury private jet, a 1979 Boeing 747, owned by Sheldon Adelson, one of the richest men in America.

It has been an action-packed couple of weeks for the hotel heiress.

Hilton was arrested along with her friend Jennifer Rovero at a World Cup game in South Africa on suspicion of possessing drugs after sniffer dogs found cannabis in a designer handbag.

The authorities dropped the charges against Hilton after Rovero, a former Playboy playmate, pleaded guilty.

The 31-year-old was fined 1,000 rand (£85) and deported from the country.

Hilton's publicist said the incident at the quarter-final between Brazil and Holland in Port Elizabeth was a "misunderstanding".

Such BS. No other person on Earth would have the sentence "The charges were dropped when they pleaded guilty" in their news story for the same crime. Justice system needs a good flogging.

rich or not if you travel to other countries you still have to go thru customs, does not matter if you took a public airline or even if you flew your own private plane there.

what surprises me is that the shit was found on paris and her friend Jennifer Rovero was willing to plead guilty and possibly take the fall for paris on drug charges in a foreign country, now that's one loyal friend.
