Lindsay Lohan was axed from a movie because she's not "bankable" -- this according a source connected with the production of the flick.

Lindsay was slated to star in "The Other Side," a movie about a grad student working on a deserted island.

David Michaels, the writer/director, tells TMZ, "Our team simply chose to move on from Lindsay and we'll soon be announcing a replacement."

But sources connected with the film tell us the people financing the film were skittish about relying on Lindsay.

The movie also stars Woody Harrelson, Giovanni Ribisi, Dave Matthews and Alanis Morissette.

And there's this twist ... at one point Brittany Murphy was attached to the movie.

Lindsay's rep had no comment.

If she pulls it together now she has a chance but it still may be too late. If not, we'll be reading her obituary "Lindsay Lohan dies of drug overdose" soon. I liked her, she was very sexy and talented actress at one point but allowed her bad association of friends and their detrimental behaviours to negativly influence her. she seems to have issues with being impulsive and overly emotional (not logical) when making decisions she's just a follower and not a leader by any means.

Reportedly it will be non-porno (natch), but very hard and very shocking:

"Troubled Lindsay Lohan is facing even more humiliation - but this time just on the big screen.

The actress, currently wearing an alcohol monitoring device on her ankle after almost landing in jail, is hoping her racy star-turn as Deep Throat porn star Linda Lovelace will finally revive her flagging career.

But someone who has seen the script for Inferno insists Lindsay will be beaten and utterly humiliated.

'It's very sensational. There are not so much plot devices as shock tactics.'

Before Traynor turns Lovelace into a hooker, he forces her into a gang-rape scenario with several businessmen - one of whom hums a tune from 'Mary Poppins' while fondling her breast.

Von says: 'The movie's obviously designed to just outright disturb with the combination of childhood imagery and absolute outright depraved perversions.'

The script was written and will directed by Matthew Wilder, who did not respond to calls for comment."
