I've been obsessed with finding the "film" version of her topless scene for decades, but in 2004 I read an article in an Italian magazine (on occasion of Loren's 70th birthday) which had interviews with several people who remembered her from the start of her career. One of these was a staff photographer from Cinecittà (the Italian "Hollywood") who reminisced that the nude shots were all posed for magazines, not as part of the movie itself. Sophia herself said she "posed" but never specified that they were for still shots, not for a film version. Also, as IMDB states, the "French" version was released two years later, in 1953. So most likely the only difference between the two verisions would have been the dubbed language, not an alternative "nude scene" someone kept laying around for two years.

I'd be the first person to cheer if it ever turned out there was nude movie footiage of Sophia, but I doubt it more every day that passes... And if there was such footage, it would be banned in the USA because, as we've seen, she was only 16, or at MOST 17, when they filmed it.

I swear on a stack of bibles she did a nude scene in the film Arabesque. It was made in the mid-60s.

In about 1968 or so, I was staying up late watching TV. 8 years old. Naturally, staying up past 10 pm was a big deal, lol. It was during the summer, and a Friday or Saturday, and my dad was a fan of Gregory Peck, so he let me stay up to watch it.

There is a scene where they are in a hotel room somewhere in the Middle East, or Spain or something. The film is a spy-thriller. It is "the morning after", and she is sitting in bed with the covers up almost to her neck. To the left, is a doorway, and through it, with his back to the camera and wearing pajama bottoms, is Gregory Peck, shaving.

They are having a 'discussion' (mild argument), and Sophia's character says "Well what do you want me to do?".

Gregory Peck turns around, walks towards the camera, reaches out and pulls the bed sheets down, saying "Go naked!". She sits there topless for a moment with a pout on her face. Then they cut to the next scene.

I SAW this. I can't forget it, as it was the first time I saw boobs in a movie (or any sort of media). When it happened, it blew my mind. I did not say anything to my Dad, and he did not say anything to me, lol.

I got the DVD not long ago, and naturally the scene is there (with them in that hotel room), but it cuts off before it gets to that point of toplessness.

I told my Dad about this recently, and he does not remember it, but he said it was most likely a European cut of the film that accidentally got sent to the local TV station.

So...on an 'official' level, she was never topless in a film I suppose.

But I know what I saw. I DID see her magnificent rack!

And, I will never forget it!

The scene I was referencing starts at 5:09, but they cut out the earlier part where Gregory Peck was shaving. Obviously, in the story, after the conversation I saw as a kid, he left, then came back with some info, which is where the scene picks up.

Be nice if someday that scene is discovered. I know I saw it.

According to an interview she gave, there was film footage shot for the French cinema circuit. She agreed to go topless, but says she did not feel happy about doing so.

Nudity below 18 is legal in the US (not sex scenes, but nudity). There are tons of well-known examples by mainstream actresses and/or in Oscar nominated/winning films: Keira Knightley was 15 in the Hole, Thora Birch was 16 in American Beauty, Simonetta Stefanelli was 17 in the Godfather, Olivia Hussey was 16 in Zeferelli's Romeo and Juliet, Natassja Kinski, Brooke Shields, etc, etc.
