I have noticed that a lot of sites like this one have added "step" to their Taboo videos. Was some law passed that I was not aware of? We all know it is fake so "no family members were harmed in the making of this video" so why the rush to tack on the "step" label?

Can't say for sure about anywhere else, but at some point over the past few months Clips4sale added "step" site-wide to any family descriptor like mother, father, son, etc. Even if it's not a "taboo" video - so something like "my mom's best friend has a really hot daughter" would now be "my stepmom's best friend has a really hot stepdaughter".

I've noticed a few occasions here of someone posting an older C4S vid, but copying the current description which adds a bunch of "step" that wasn't in the description when the scene was first released.

While I don't have a definitive answer, I guess it has to do with the varying social and legal acceptance of incest in different regions and economical concerns over their ability to sell their content to certain markets. I can't imagine that it is solely, it at all, a legal thing.

That one I have noticed for quite a few years and thought it was some local ordinance thing. The adding of "step" before the family members was relatively recent.

Take this with a grain of salt, but from what I've read (and I think it was on this forum a while back), there actually is no strict law in a lot of places in the States that says you cannot do X type of porn.

Instead, the laws are a lot more vague, and state something like it's illegal if the content is considered indecent to normal society. Which means most producers will try to make it clear it's not incest, while obviously portraying that fantasy, just to be safe.
