![]() I'm not looking for anything fancy. Just to cut scenes out of movies and upload them in the original wmv format. What do you recommend?

![]() Avidemux. It's free, not fancy, pretty straight forward for the non super tech savvy, can (very simply) cut/edit, and lastly, it is IT professional approved (I'm not in IT, I just know a very good one). If you want perfect, then you need fancy, like Vegas or Premiere. Avidemux is simple and sometimes not perfect (it really depends on the source video and its I-frames, or lack thereof).
For me personally, it greatly helps to convert shitty WMVs to H.265 AKA MP4s, without having to open Vegas and then Handbrake, etc. WMVs are hideously unreliable, IMHO. They seem to decay much quicker and with more regularity than MP4s, MKVs or AVIs. However, some areas like PATM don't allow re-encodes, so this feature won't help anyone for that; It's only for the collectors. ![]() Code:

![]() I agree with the recommendation for avidemux. That may be the simplest to use, and it also works for mp4/mkv/avi files as well as wmv.
Specifically for wmv files, I think asfbin (or the GUI version of asfbinwin) is the classic editor. If all you have to edit are wmv files, that may be the best choice, especially if you want the final result to be a wmv file. |

![]() Cut Assistant gui utilizing asfbin will get it done. It's not too difficult. Avidemux isn't crap anymore but last I recall I don't think it's good at lossless/copy cutting of wmv.
