Is there a good way to find all low def movies in a given folder without going one by one?

Assuming you use Windows, you go to your video folder and under View, you select Details, if you don't already have it like that. This gives you the columns with the file properties that you can use to sort the files, like name, date of creation, file type and so on.

Right click on any of them and select More. It will open a list of things you can add to order your files by. Select Frame Height. It will create a new column in your window with the frame height of the file, if it's a compatible image or video file that actually does have a frame height.

Left click the header of the frame height column and it will order the files by their frame height.

It will work similarly with other file browsers and/or other operating systems.

at the top click "view" then change to "content" it will show the resolution (height & width) of every file in the folder.

To expand on DarkRaven671's and mental's excellent advice, you can also add column headers such as "bitrate" and "dimensions" (per DarkRaven671's post), depending upon what your definition of "low def" is.

If that is not to your liking, you may want to Google for software that organizes your videos.

I don't know much about MacOS, but a quick Google search revealed that there really isn't a comparable feature like you'd get on Windows. I'd never have thought. Many people are asking for this.

However, the default Movies folder does show file metadata just like Windows can, apparently, and it does it by default (since there's no option to manually activate it). And if you don't want to dump all you files into this one folder, which is understandable, then renaming any folder to "Movies" will activate the same feature for that folder.

At least that's what some people on the internet said. I can't confirm this because I don't have a machine with MacOS, but you can give it a try.
