Question about RAM and Android Smartphones...
Hoping one of you techies knows what I'm talking about here...

I have a lot of apps on my phone, so I have a minimal amount of free RAM to work with. But lately, when I get up in the morning and check my phone, a bunch of it (sometimes as much as 1 Gb) is gone, my RAM is down to a really low figure, and I'm forced to delete apps to get back to a workable amount. I've checked the usual suspects... no app eating up the RAM (checked... all about their "normal" size), and cleaning does little (and yes, I have two apps that actually clean the cache very well). Specs: OS 7.1.1, octocore processor, 16 Gb RAM, 128 Gb SD card installed, Lookout Security Where is it going? How can I get rid of it, if I find it? Is my only option to turn off WiFi/Internet when I go to bed? Thanks in advance... |

Do you use any antivirus? I saw at mine that Bitdefender keep in control most of the apps, but once a month I have to use the default cleaner.

Why deleting app's , start force stop some apps you suspect they eating your Ram and watch your device , for example stop 2 apps today and watch , tomorrow 2 and watch .
Start with apps that contain Ads And also force stop original apps that you don't use.original that came with your device. In Settings-Data usage you can also Restrict apps from using Wifi or Mobile Data(apps you dont want them to use internet) You can do much throw File Manager like deleting language files that you dont use , languages like Chinese , Vietnamese , Urdo .....etc. And thumbs that device keep .

Check Settings > Notifications. Some apps like to do regular updates and it may not be something you care about. Turn off Allow Notifications for the unwanted ones. I am sure this will fix your problem. You also might consider updating the OS.

OS is 7.1.1, and checked weekly for updates. The notifications theory seems to have some plausibility, so I'll check it out.

I use it to hibernate apps not in use, therefore saving the battery life, which is hideously short on my Samsung phone.
