4k uhd tv
When I moved from old fashioned CRT TV to a modern HD flatscreen TV a few years ago, I was shocked at how poor the picture quality was for anything not shot or broadcast in HD. That included DVDs or any cable channels being broadcast in SD. SD content on a HD screen is imo far inferior to SD content on a good old fashioned CRT screen.
I may have to get a new TV, and of course 4K UHD is the latest and the greatest. What I'm wondering is will content in 1080 look like crap on a 4K screen in the same way that SD content looks crap on a HD screen??? I'd be interested in comments from anyone who has experience with both formats of TV. TIA |

I got 48 inch Samsung 4K uhd TV for 7 months now, and I have no problem with 1080 on my TV. It might be different if you go over 65 inch
The pixels might be streched to much, but I'm not sure for that. |

No 1080 won't look like crap. I have an LG 55" and its awesome. They have really good up scalers and other tech inside them that makes almost everything look good. I basically use 2k for my desktop and hi res pictures look way better. My blu-rays also look better than ever before.

Try going into the Settings Menu of your TV. There should be a few settings you can adjust to improve the picture quality of your SD videos. I have a LG 43inch 1080p FullHD flatscreen and it displays all my SD media perfectly without any pixelation.

My set is a Panasonic Viera 43 inch 1080p. Believe me I've tried every conceivable setting I could find and SD content still looks crap. SD content isn't pixelated - it's fuzzy. HD content is really good though.

That is really strange. As I can watch VHS tapes on my LG 43 inch 1080p TV and the image is pretty good.
