when u have a gif involving motion, is there a simply way to FREEZE it? control char or something?

i know u can load it into apps which break it down into its individual frames (like screencaps), but i mean on the fly. when something is moving IN THE BROWSER; i wanna freeze it for closer look.

(bonus points if u can freeze it then start STEPPING thru those later frames....)

basically according to the nature of gif you can't do what u r talking without any plugin or software.

You should be able to stop it in whatever software you use to play it. For example, if you're using MPC, it sees it as if it were a video, so you can click the pause button, and even use frame-by-frame, if desired.

If you're using a picture viewer, I imagine there's a similar mechanism to stop / freeze frame the.gif... maybe the space bar?

unless...some sort of plug-in arrangement...i confess i am not really conversant in this stuff.

i.e. not exporting it to an app like that, but right there in the browser. isn't there some way?

i'm surprised just (left) clicking on it doesn't bring up pause/play controls, frankly. like for an actual video.

google 'disable gif autoplay firefox', or what browser you use + without an additional plugin/software you can't play frame by frame

uBlock Origin can block stuff, just right click over whatever and choose Block Element.
