Why Dogs Are Cool...
I wanted to start this thread long ago and it's not just because we have "Why cats are cool..." started by Timmodude... Actually I have a personal reason for starting this and special breed of dogs that I am fond of: Setters!!! Especially Irish Setters, Gordon Setters and English Setters. But reds somehow have special place in my heart, probably because I was a proud owner of an Irish Setter (Oggie) for 17 years Yup, SEVENTEEN years! Lived happy dog's life, running around as much as he wanted all over our big backyard, ever ready for new tricks to make you laugh! The most amazing thing for me (and that's typical for all setters) is that whole of his life he thought that he is still smalll puppy - he was always trying to sit in your lap or to sleep in a chair although he was way too big to do so
True aristocrats Irish Setter: Gordon Setter: English Setter: And some famous people with Irish Setters... Clark Gable: Olivia Newton John: The Nixons: Anonym zu irishsetters.us/5-famous-irish-setters-through-history And cats are just partners for having fun together: Now I am a proud owner of a 6 months old Golden and they are also cheerful and playful dogs, but Setters will always have special place in my heart |

I love dogs.
I have two Shih-Tzus, both boys, 10 & 9 years old. They are my little princes. I love small dogs especially, probably because of how energetic they are - I like to take them with me when I jog and they are always less worn out than I am...even at their age. Shih-Tzu generally have big eyes and short muzzles, and many of them (including my younger one) seem to have a permanent quizzical expression, like they're never exactly quite sure what's going on. They are a very intelligent breed (my oldest had mastered all the basic commands by the time he was 10 months old), but unfortunately, they aren't very good with children. They do tend to be a bit pompous, and even a tad arrogant at times, especially when they're young, so they will often (not physically) fight with kids for attention. However, like all dogs, they are the best friends and companions anyone could ask for. |

Dogs are so much better then cats. A dog loves you because he loves you, cats only love their masters when they want to be fed and if you pet them and they aren't in a tollerant mood they will let you know the hard way. Growing up we always had a cat and a dog and the dog fit in much better with a large house full of kids (4 of us).

My favorite is the Wire Haired Fox Terrier. Great family dogs though they can be a bit difficult to train due to their strong independant personalities. They are known for their intelligence and often have quirky personalities that give the impression that they have a sense of humor. It is absolutely essential to socialize this breed thoroughly from a young age - if not socialized they tend to become dog agressive. From Wikipedia Quote:
