Problem deleting files after broken download (Solved)
During the last few months I ended up with two files I am unable to delete. The download did not work, but the files still show (Size 0 KB).

Reason: Problem solved
I always download to a USB Stick (as I'm storing and working on another PC). One of the files is an AVI, the other one RAR. Whenever I try to delete those files from my stick they're gone. But if I go to another folder and return, they're back. If I try to delete those files on my other PC I get a message about not being able to delete because these files are currently in use or another person uses them. As my other PC is not connected to the Internet or any kind of network, this can't be the case. So far I haven't been able to trasfer these files or remove them. Anyone got an idea what's going on and how to remove those files for good? |

If you get this "in use or another person uses them" again, try this programm:

I had the same problem with a couple of files I downloaded. I found that I had to make sure I also deleted them from my download manager's history first.

Thanks for the advice. I tried unlocker but it doesn't work. I get no list and trying to delete from unlocker is no use. I keep getting a message about the files being corrupt and unreadable.

Thanks for all the advice. I can't open the files with a program like notepad or even a Hex-viewer. Scans from my Virusprotector don't come up with anything. Erasing tools didn't work. I always get the same message about the files being corrupt and unreadable.
Here's another eraser. It's a command line tool. Didn't work for me, but maybe will for someone else. Whenever I need to use command lines I always make a copy of CMD (to be found in Windows' system 32 folder) and paste it directly in the folder where the program to be run resides. So I only need to type the programs name, not the entire path to it. Quote:

AmGe,
If you go to MSFN dot org, do a search there is a wonderful free app linked there that will unlock hooks, from REGEDIT. I've highlighted that for a reason in that the file when unzipped looks like a regkey icon. Run it, do your usual find command as you would in regedit, it works like "unlocker" referred to above. I'm too drunk to find an active link for you, but if you have no joy there, do a search at "Softpedia", Major Geeks, & BleepingComputer. Sorry, cannot recall the authour but is it is a major one. Geez, bear with me I'm gonna find it for you, reason being the notebook I use for work had a major problem when I updated both SpySweeper & Spybot within about 3 minutes of each other without rebooting, could not kill some processes, even with hidden files showing, cost me about 24 hours over 3 days, trying to sort out this mess to no avail. Problem was I could not even connect to the web (have 3 different connections, all that can be surmised is the issue destroyed my MAC, enen tried the freebie from XP Smoker to readdress Winsock etc. Ended up having to do a total reinstall, but what I've proposed above may work.
