macOS Sierra
Hello fellow Mac users,
Has any of you upgraded to the latest OS: 10.12? As usual, I'm holding back from doing so myself until many user reviews are published, so I'm interested in what (if any) experience our Planet's Mac using members might have and can share here. On paper this OS looks great, but we will only know if this is the case once the user reviews start coming in. Any hints, tips, and warnings are most welcome here.

I have and so far I'm pretty happy with it. I don't use any of the headline features but really like how you can have folders at the top of finder windows and they finally added a default text size adjustment to Notes. Being able to rearrange all menu bar items except Notification Center is a nice touch too.

Reason: fixed typo
My biggest gripes would be the light colored Notification Center as I use the dark theme and it clashes a bit and they changed the text size control in Safari but I am getting used to it. Everything else I don't care for like the hideous new Finder icon is easily fixed with a little know how. Honestly my 2012 iMac actually feels a bit peppier since I installed it and I am happier with it than when I installed 10.11 last year. |

I've just spent the last 8 hours reverting back to 10.11. Luckily I'd made a Time Machine backup before I upgraded to Sierra.
The upgrade went well, with no problems. Once done everything seemed to be okay, it was only when I came to use Photoshop CS6 that I had problems. Photoshop launched okay, and I had no problems doing what I wanted to do to the picture, but when I saved it Photoshop crashed — it continued to crash every time I saved a picture. |

I guess Apple will address this issue in the next update.

Hopefully a patch will be out soon.
Usually things like Ableton stop working every new edition of MacOS.

CS6 is listed as compatible, even though the two comments at the time tested it with MacSierra Beta. Do you have some Extensions running, like Default Folder, or some PS Extension? |

I hate the way they do this: and now they make iPads obsolete within 3 years,

I have an iPod touch that won't support above OS 6 and a lot of newer apps sure but everything that it came with works just fine and it is still completely supported in iTunes. In fact iTunes still supports my first generation iPod Shuffle that came out in 2005 and still works just fine. People are constantly eager to see what they bring out next and many folks make a living out of just speculating what that is. Apple doesn't need to push customers by making things obsolete. Its the world of tech, its par for the course. For christ sake, my first computer had 4k and used audio tape for data. Things progress. |
