well, not quite, but i got lasik to correct acute myopia back in my 20s.

was informed at the time that presbyopia was a whole diff kettle of fish, and that it simply could not be addressed surgically (or with contacts, for that matter). i.e. that i'd still likely need reading glasses come age 40 or 50...which turned out to be 100% accurate.

HOWEVER, from what i can google, the technology has advanced and both contacts and lasik can now deal with this? is this true? does anyone have personal experience?

i also hear ads about trials being done for refractive(?) EYE DROPS which somehow cure or at least reduce the problem? thought it was a scam, but i see major medical schools working on this.

my sight at distance is still perfect, fwiw. or close thereto. was told i'd need some lasik "touchups" after a few years, but i'm still seeing road signs and eye charts as good as the day i got it done. so i haven't bothered.

but the closeup stuff, otoh...omg, driving me nuts! how do i shed these F@#$%^&*!! reading glasses once and for all?!
