I'm not a fan of the Simm's Master, but I'm hoping he'll be cured of his "energy discharge" problem. And his need to feed. To me, that was an unnecessary addition to the character. And I miss his old "Tissue Compression Eliminator". The "Laser Screwdriver" just seems silly for the character. But from the photo, it appears that's what he's got in hand. |

The good thing about voice acting, for a lady of her years, is that she can do it from the comfort of her own home, no need to travel to a studio. Professional quality audio recording equipment is quite portable.

True enough. But way before that, the BBC did something similiar with the "Three Doctors" appearance of William Hartnell. The script was altered to account for his inability to move much. So, he was filmed while sitting in his own chair in the comfort of his own home. And due to his "forgetfulnes", even with cue cards, there were times he had to be editted and do a retake or two. But he got the job done. And that's his only appearance in color. Not counting clips that were colorized later. |

In The Three Doctors, Hartnell met Troughton and Pertwee, so he did regenerate into somebody he'd met. So did Troughton. Then there was The Five Doctors, The Two Doctors and the 50th Anniversary... Basically all the Doctors have met their future selves. The original idea came from Mary Tamm's regeneration sequence where she tried out several forms, rather like trying on outfits, before settling on Lalla Ward (Princess Astra, someone Romana had met before). The Tom Baker that appeared in the 50th was a future Doctor. He implied rather strongly that some of the future regenerations would revisit past Doctors. Anyone who has seen Gotham knows that Pertwee's son currently looks remarkably like him when he was Three... |

My bad. I misunderstood and thought you meant the actors who played a role in the show before they became the Doctor. Colin Baker being an example. He appeared as a totally different character. And now I'm probably confusing this more then necessary. OK then. But, they only see each other and know each other when they are together in the same time. Earlier incarnations tend to forget their future selves. When they are together, then they remember/recall their past & future meetings. All of which depends on which incarnation it is. Number one will forget meeting number two and both will forget meeting number three. I was actually reminded of that watching the "Missy meets Master" bit in the latest episode. He remembered meeting her while it took her awhile to remember that time. That bit reminded me of the "Two Doctors" when #6 mentions that by wizzing through time so much, he was bound to cross paths with himself eventually. That was one time that it was unusual because In both, the "Three Doctors" and "The Five Doctors" it took a great source of power to bring the respective incarnations together. One was a black hole (like the one seen in the latest episode) (coincedence, I'm sure). The other was that "Time Scoop" of Rasillon. But nothign like that in the "Two Doctors". They just happened to cross paths, and that's what I'm thinking this is all about. Quote:
Actually, I read where in the shows "Bible" that because she was a female, Ramona's regeneration was more mallible then it would have been if she were a "he". And also, because she chose to regenerate rather then be forced into it, she was able to make alterations until she settled on the one she most prefered. Quote:
"Impllied", yes. But if it's never actually stated, it can never be definite. And even then. All the Time Lords died. Oh, wait. Never mind. Even when it's vehemently stated that somethign happened, it doesn't mean it did. Quote:
I've never seen "Gotham", but I have seen him in various things over the years and yes, he is a lot like his father. Not just in looks either. His acting skills are on on camera are on par with his father's, but at the same time, he shines through as his own man. And that's great that he can do that. And from what I can tell, he seems to honor his father quite well. I did like his appearance in that "Fivish Doctors" special a few years back. |

Well, damn. They waited this long to make this. The "Genesis Of The Cybermen" was going to be the title of a story for the 6th Doctor, but the story was never made. When this latest episode started, I started seeing things in it that I'd read about in that never-made story. The Master Meets Missy. Missy doesn't remember meeting the Master and yet the Master seems to remember her. He came first, so it's interesting. But that happened with the 3rd Doctor when he met the 2nd, first picking up the Recorder and mentioning it was oddly familiar, but he didn't remember it. But it was #2's. You'd think 3 would remember, but he didn't. Not at first. So, I'm guessing the "fog" of memory clears up for the former incarnations sooner then the later incarnations? And when they part ways, the earlier incarnation will quickly forget his future. Until they either meet again, or are within one another's time's. Like in the "Five Doctors" when #2 is on Earth visiting the Brigadaire and mention is made of their encounter with Omega. The Doctor did point out he wasn't breaking the laws of time, just bending them a little. So, there is precedent for the Master remembering first and Missy 2nd. What I'm trying to figure out is, with Gomez saying she's leaving the role, will the writer use the old "Time Lords Forget Meeting themselves" to have the Master regenerate in Missy as he/she escapes and uses a very vague recollection of the Cybermen that causes her to start the whole cycle over again. And meanwhile, as the Master somehow makes his escape while regenerating into Missy, the Missy in current time somehow gets hurt and she regenerates. Possibly into someone not seen on camera so as to let someone else come along to do the future casting. Just me guessing about all of that. |

It would only have been better if it wasn't known that the Cybermen would be in this episode. But, considering it was known they were going to show up, they did so in a fashion I was not expecting. As the show progressed I noticed similiarities in the story to the "Genesis" storyline for the Cybermen that was unused all of those years ago. Then to hear a certain character mention that storyline's title was funny. But that ending was really creepy. Though, when it was explained what those hose-like thingies were for, it gave away the ending. Really, it was probably the best of Capaldi's run thus far. I'm still curious about that opening sequence, but time will tell what that is all about. |

It looks like more the Mondasian and alternate-Earth Cybermen are going to meet. I wonder where the Telosian Cybermen fit into all of this. This does make me think that Missy's first appearance, where she was creating Cybermen from dead human's, is going to be linked to this episode somehow. |
