Anyone know why nearly every filehost systematically blocks the Tor browser?

I'm in the unfortunate situation right now of temporarily not living at my own place. This will be the case for a couple of months. Need to get a little fix now and again but don't want to cause any problems with my generous hosts. They've allotted me my own room so I have privacy, and I'm being careful not to download very much, so shouldn't impact their bandwidth limit. But just to stay on the safe side I also don't want an ISP check to reveal the few items I have been downloading, so decided to use the Tor browser. Am posting with it now, in fact. However, I find that every filehosting site I try blocks it. They aren't honest about what they're doing; each site uses a different sneaky method--usually after you solve the capcha. Filefactory simply disables its timer: you click on the "free download" button and the "60" just sits there and refuses to count down. Depositfiles tells you that you're a spammer so it can't let you proceed. Uploaded says "The free download is currently not available - Please try again later! Premium users are not affected." K2S says "Downloading is not possible. Free account does not allow to download more than one file at the same time" even though you aren't downloading another file. Rapidgator does the same thing. And so on.

If I attempt the exact same download in FF, it succeeds on all these sites. Why don't they want you using Tor?

It's not just filehosting sites that block TOR. I suggest that you get a legitimate VPN service. They are cheap and will save you a lot of time and hassle. Definitely worth the small monthly cost (if you consider your time valuable).

1) TOR was used often by hackers/scammers to hide their identity while committing credit card fraud and other crimes. So it's sensible that filehosting sites block TOR as a security measure. A lot of websites blacklist TOR IPs, not only filehosts.
2) As you already know, most filehosts put a waiting time between free downloads. This is done by IP address check. So of course they don't want you bypassing that waiting time by changing your IP address with TOR. And it's possible that someone is downloading or has recently downloaded from the filehost using the same TOR server you are on. TOR servers are shared by a lot of people, they are not private.

There is nothing wrong with filehosts blocking TOR servers. They have every right to do so. If people could abuse filehosts by taking advantage of the anonymity provided by TOR servers, the honest users would suffer and would result in slower download speed, more restrictions, etc for everyone.

I don't know what you mean by "ISP check", but what you should be concerned about is your online activity showing up in the router's logs. Most routers keep a log of all visited websites. I guess it could be embarrassing if your hosts found out you were downloading porn.

I suggest
1) Get a VPN service. Pay for a cheap one, find free trials, or use free VPN services like Hola. Although I am not sure if Hola can completely mask your online activity because it's not a "real" VPN.
2) Use TOR to browse planetsuzy and find download links. Use your real internet to download the files. Visiting filehosting sites doesn't necessarily mean you are downloading porn. Just make sure that the download link doesn't contain porn related words.

My 3 month subscription to FileBoom and K2S had just expired and I went out to the sites to renew only to find that they only deal through resellers now. When you click any of the links you find that the resellers jack up the price by at least 30% !!!! That's not the worst part, they take your credit card number but don't provide you with a code!! FileBoom and K2S don't have support (their links take you to a third party site where you need to sign up for an account but it appears no one at either of those hosts actually look at or respond to the comments). FileBoom and K2S were a couple of the best hosts but now with the credit card theft and lack of support I believe it is time to ban them as hosts. Anyone else feel the same way?

I was scammed. I used a prepaid card I had never used anywhere else.

I hope they get banned sooner than later.

Soooo. The Contact link at the K2S site redirects you to a third party site that has nothing to do with K2S (or FileBoom).

How can a free user get 150k from the links here?
If they click on a link they are redirected thru anonym and they get 50k and if they copy the link they get 50k too...

u get links thru anonym because you use WAR link checker
disable it or use another browser without it and u see 150 kb/sec
