Aww fuck it!!! McGregor wins.
Nevertheless it was an epic fight. At the end of the first round I absolutely thought McGregor was going to finish off Diaz early in the second. But wow!!! Diaz came back and then some. I think that was actually the pivotal round. All three judges gave it to McGregror which amazes me. By the end of the second McGregor was in big trouble and struggling hard. Personally I gave the second to Diaz and overall I think Diaz just shaded the win. Unfortunately, my opinion don't count. I suppose the good news is that were probably looking at a trilogy some time down the road. |

CM Punk won't last long at this rate but props to him for trying. After all he is the longest reigning WWE champion of the modern era and that post-fight interview shows that he is still the best in the world at cutting promos. CM Punk made his UFC debut at UFC 203 tonight and was submitted by Mickey Gall at 2:14 of the first round. UFC uploaded Punk and Gall's post-fight interviews, as seen in the video above. "In life you go big or you go home, I just like to take challenges," Punk said. "This was a hell of a mountain to try to climb and I didn't get to the summit today, but that doesn't mean I'm going to give up. "I will be back, believe it or not, this was the most fun I've ever had," Punk continued. "It was the second best day of my life after marrying my wife. I know there's a lot of doubters, but life's about falling down and getting up. It doesn't matter how many times you get knocked down, it's about getting back up. So if there's any kid out there who's told be a parent, a teacher or a coach or somebody that they're supposed to look up to, somebody that's supposed to push them and believe in them and they're told no, don't listen to them. Believe in yourself. Sometimes the outcome isn't always what you desire it to be, but the true failure in life is not trying at all. I know that sounds preachy and kind of weird for a guy that just got beat up, but f--k it. This is the time of my life, thank you Cleveland!"

I had a feeling Punk was going to lose in the first round. He was fighting a kid over a decade younger than himself, who has actual real experience in MMA. Still props to the guy for going out there and doing what he really wanted to do. Hell, Brock did the same with football, didn't he?

Just finished watching UFC 203.
Agree with the others - CM Punk was way outclassed but props to him for trying. Safe to say we won't be seeing him back in Octagon for a very long time - if ever. Bisping v Henderson seems to be the next really interesting main event on October 8th. I'll also be interested to see how BJ Penn does in his return to the UFC on October 15th. The last time he fought he adopted some really weird fighting stance right up on his tip-toes, and it didn't go well for him. I think Ricardo Lamass will have the beating of him. |

It wasn't a fair fight. Props and respect to him for giving it a go and I really enjoyed his entrance. You could hear his coach telling him to go for run and right punch, you can hear it guys! I think someone from his camp told Galls team about Punk and his poor ground skill. Thats why I think he went for the take down. Punk is gonna listen to his coach, and his coach said to go in and for the right punch. And its like Gall knew it was gonna come. If his coach did betray him, then he did it for profit. I bet he bet all against Punk. Probably threw in the house and got back a fortune.

By the way - the current season of TUF is probably the best in a long time imo. Every single fight so far has been a ripper. Great format to choose 16 champs from other organisations to compete against each other. Haven't seen anyone who looks like they'll give Mighty Mouse a run for his money when the time comes, but the fights have been excellent nevertheless. |

That's fair enough. I'm just bit doubting it. I'm not saying Gall isn't good. But it's that I heard the coach tell him to do that. If his coach knows he's all about ground game, then he wouldn't have told him to go in like that.

I saw another clip somewhere of Punk's training camp where they showed him putting a lot of work into take-down defense. So they were well aware of Mickey Galls strengths, and put a lot of work in training for it. Fact is he wasn't able to put that work into effect on the night. I think to some extent Punk got caught by surprise that Gall went for the take-down so quickly without any striking. |
