According to a source within WWE, there is still concern over whether or not Bret Hart will be able to compete in a singles match against Vince McMahon at WrestleMania 26.
As of right now, WWE's "contingency plan" for WrestleMania, in the event that Bret is incapable of working a singles match, is to have Bret Hart and John Cena vs Vince and Batista in a tag team bout. The build up here is to Bret applying The Sharpshooter on Vince, but if Bret is not up to the singles match, WWE will be combining the two matches. At this point, Vince's preference is the singles match, but as I said Bret's health is of concern. If Bret decides he can work a singles match, then WWE will most likely book Cena vs Batista in a separate singles match.

Oh, well there you go. It always really depended on whether or not Hart could work a match.

The World Heavyweight Title Match at The Elimination Chamber PPV will be: The Undertaker vs John Morrison vs R-Truth vs CM Punk vs Chris Jericho vs Rey Mysterio.

The Wrestling Observer is reporting that there may not be any immediate plans for Christian and the future of the ECW Championship. At this point, the early talk is that the title will cease to exist and Christian will be moved to another brand, most likely Smackdown, but that has not been confirmed. As we reported before, WWE NXT debuts on February 23rd.

The Courant has an article up noting that Rob Simmons recently attacked Linda McMahon's senate run by claiming that WWE was inappropriate in its use of the Eugene character played by Nick Dinsmore. Below is an excerpt from the article:
"A day after Rob Simmons attacked Linda McMahon and World Wrestling Entertainment, the company she helped build and once led, for insensitivity toward people with mental disabilities, the McMahon campaign fought back. The issue bubbled to the surface of an already acrimonious campaign between Simmons and McMahon, both Republicans running for U.S. Senate, after White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel used a derogatory word for people with learning disabilities. That prompted the Simmons camp to circulate a couple of YouTube videos showing a WWE storyline that featured Eugene, a character with a mental impairment, being humiliated in the ring. "Rob Simmons indicates once again that he doesn't understand how to separate fact from fiction,'' Ed Patru, a spokesman for the McMahon campaign, said in a statement. "In the soap opera world of WWE, the character 'Eugene' was developmentally disabled, but rather than the beaten down, pathetic character that Rob presents, Eugene was treated via scripting like all WWE superstars with no special privileges. He competed in the ring or in a steel cage, sometimes winning, but often losing as an underdog. In the end, in spite of any disability, he was victorious and became a hero."

You know, there are a few things that could come back to bite Linda in her ass in that campaign. "HLA", the Katie Vick/Necrophilia angle, the countless angles that humiliated women ... there probably are people that would vote against her for some of the things the WWE has done.
And in a completely unrelated matter, while searching out the Elimination Chamber matches I found a few others that were worth watching. I was going to post this one in the Indy Wrestling thread, but since it's a TNA match and it stars a current WWE diva, I thought it made more sense to post it here. It's an old TNA match, back BEFORE the 6-sided ring. Alexis Laree, now known as Mickie James, was alligned with Raven so I think it's from 2003. She's, like, 24 years old at the time and looks absolutely smoking, IMHO. And it's a decent match, certainly better than the Ariel match from the Indy thread. According to a source within TNA, Jeff Hardy is telling people that he's still "supremely confident" that he will get out of the current legal mess he's in, and if he does, he's headed to TNA.
When Hardy debuted with TNA back on the live, January 4th Impact special, the deal was for one night only despite reports claiming that he had signed some type of extended contract with the company. However, Hardy's agent is still negotiating with TNA, and Jeff fully expects to be a full-time member of the TNA roster if/when his legal situation clears up.

Isn't Hardy facing drug trafficing charges?? It's not like he's just facing minor charges, I think he's got serious things coming his way. If he escaped jail time, it'd be good for TNA ... but I just don't see how he's going to stay out.

And I'm glad you guys liked the Alexis Laree match & the Elimination Chambers. I have a bunch of matches that I've downloaded lately, and I'm going to post the good ones here (and the Indy thread, where applicable) ... so expect more in the coming days/weeks. EDIT: I posted a gif of Mickie getting semi-pantsed by Beth Phoenix, but it was bigger than I thought (no pun intended) ... so I removed it. It's here if anyone wants to check it out. |

Apparently, he could prove that a guy gave him a package right before the police raided his home. I dunno. TNA could definitely use him.
Yeah, keep those matches coming. |
