And Terry Nation, the creator of the Daleks, often stated that the Daleks were based on the Nazi's. And since the creator says it's so, I'm inclined to also think that it is so. |

In the history of the show, I dont' recall religion being put on display during the series quite like it has been in these last few episodes. Even before the Monks showed up, when the Doctor was dealing with the giant fish, religion was brought up. As for the 4th Doctor having a chance at wiping out the Daleks, that was not a religious thing, that was a moral thing. |

The last Doctor had hundreds (possibly thousands) of Headless Monks, a Militant Roman Catholic church (complete with a Papal Mainframe), Weeping Angels, a dark god that wanted to eat the entire universe, a town called Christmas (though unlike the present doctor no actual Father Christmas). The one before that had Satan himself turn up. Difficult to top that one... I seem to recall the third Doctor had an encounter with demons. ("Jenkins, chap with the wings, three rounds rapid!") The fourth one met the Osirans who turned out to be the Egyptian pantheon. Weren't there some Atlantean gods too? If you start including books, audio and comics there's a lot more. (The Immortals turned out to be most of the earth gods - The Player.) Lots of religion in Doctor Who when you think about it. |

I think I should have worded myself a bit better. What I mean is that, during this whole season, they have pushed it to the front. Whereas, yes, there have been other times, but those haven't lasted a whole season. |

But most of those turned out to be fodder for Giorgio A. Tsoukalos. |

I thought the 2 part episode in the Second Series of New Who, The Impossible Planet and The Satan Pit had twice as much religion in it as any this year.

It's been awhile since I've seen it, but while I know some religion was tossed in, I seem to really only remember a scene where the Doctor mentions several religions to "Satan" during their short conversation when Satan first possessed the Ood. |

This weekend BBC America showed a bunch of Matt Smith episodes starting with his 1st (Eleventh hour). They Butchered the episode chopping parts of some conversations out just so they could add in more commercials. For instance they showed him trying an apple and next thing you know its fish fingers and custard. All through the episode they cut snippits of dialogue and pounded out the commercials instead. Made me sick to think about how they ruined it.

Actually, slavery was considered by many to be a religious thing. The idea was that they were bringing God to the savages. And slavery is mentioned throughout the bible with it seemingly being condoned in some cases. |
