Well, you are conflating two types of expression here. If an opinion is presented calmly and thoughtfully, then any response should match that. If it is abusive and intended to inflame as your abusive intruder intends then the response can be similar.

He was talking about being attacked personally for having an opinion, not being challenged, with an opposing argument. Conflating the two allows people to defend the attacking of people for having an opinion, with the excuse freedom of expression doesn't mean freedom from consequence, which justifies any response as being acceptable and proportionate.

Although someone once pointed out, a far more successful strategy would be

Near the entrances in foot high letters.

The cover is sticky, has fluff and other nastiness stuck on it taking up 75% of the cover. There's a torn off sticker with the paper trail still there, the not worth the effort to try to remove bit, and another used sticker on the spine from a shop. Disc has prints, marks, scratches. Only a retard or a liar could list this 'Like New', oh and to top it off, in the picture it looked clean. I'm starting to wonder if they didn't have it anymore and popped down to the shops to try and find a copy to send me and that's the best they came up with...

In fairness this sort of thing has happened before but it plain shouldn't.

Send it back, report it to the site (ebay?) and be sure to describe on that vendors page your feedback. I would also include photos, just so as to drive the nails in his coffin...

You may be surprised to know that even most Brand New DVD/Blu-Ray box sets, these days, come in almost the same conditions due to poor quality package manufacturing and handling.
In fact, I tend to avoid, these days, all those cheap Blu-Ray box sets that have cardboard sleeves as disc holders, and try to get just box sets with plain Blu plastic cases, whenever I can.
Those cardboard sleeves suck because, over time, the discs become full of dust and scratches. And, in the case of Blu-Rays, scratches means that a disc won't be playing correctly after awhile.
Either way, you should be eligible for either a refund or a replacement.
Contact the seller, first. And if that doesn't solve the problem, just fill a claim with Paypal for item not as described.
In a couple of weeks, you should get your money back.

For the benefit of non-UK based members following this thread, a 'bag-for-life' is a robust plastic bag that most major supermarkets sell to their customers for 10 pence.

These are called bag-for-life because you only buy it once: when it is tatty, or broken, the customer will hand it back and receive a brand new replacement.

The store will ensure the old bag is properly recycled.

No limits, non quibbles, for ever.
