The Art of the Fake - NSFW
There are a lot of great fakers out there, but my favs are Proto, Hypo, Vincent and Mr. Owl. Just to start the thread off right, here's one example from each of them.

I've been involved in faking for about 14 years. I've been seeing fakes since about the mid eighties. Faking predates even the advent of the commercial internet, tracing its roots back to the days of the online bulletin boards. The first fakes were incredibly crude, and I would roll my eyes whenever I saw one.
The person most responsible for evolving faking to its heights was Lux Lucre, AKA Kerry Pearson (1963-2004). Kerry was a pretty interesting guy, who was well known for his involvement with libertarian politics and the world of Firefly fandom. In the world of faking, Kerry founded both the first newsgroup dedicated to faking and the first website, The Lair. He also started the International Faking Games, the world's first international faking competition. He mentored a very large number of fakers, including me. Pam Dawber by Lux Lucre  Lux was not a great faker himself, but without him faking could never have developed as it did. One of the first fakers to make an impression on me was Ming. He showed that faking could be more than crude cut and pasting. Ziyi Zhang by Ming  The first fake that really caught my eye was this piece by Vivi6. This was a completely different level of work. Not only was the illusion really convincing, the composition was impressive. Cameron Diaz by Vivi6
