One thing I did notice, no mention of who the GM was for tonight's Smackdown. It was actually very nice not having multiple segments involving the GM. Now watch, now that I mentioned it, it'll be all AJ, all the time next week.

I agree about bringing Velvet Sky to WWE not being such a good idea. She very rarely impressed me inside the ring. She had good mic work and the "camera up her ass" ring entrance, but her wrestling wasn't that great. I mean, it was better than Miss Tessmacher's, but that's not saying much. And, I just don't see WWE allowing that ring entrance at this stage of the game.
TNA is notorious for borderline lewd camera shots on the Knockouts. WWE seems to be getting away from that. The WWE Divas still get the sexy in, they just don't have the camera concentrating on their ass, crotch or cleavage most of the time. I swear the TNA camera guys are a bunch of horny teenagers with cell phone cameras whenever the Knockouts are around. In the WWE, you just have Jerry Lawler and occasionally Booker T playing the leches and making comments while the camera stays zoomed out on the action.

The thing about the PG era, though, is that there just aren't any good stables anymore. The last good one in WWE was the Straight Edge Society, and before that Evolution. Nexus was a wolfpack mentality amateur show, I'm sorry. Cena needs something bigger, something more top tier like TNA's Main Event Mafia. Quote:
Yeah, something like that. When I made your sig, though, there's a reason I had my guy Punk in Bryan's hold. Best in the World? Nah. He has the best in the world down for a second, that's it. Wait, I forgot about Heath Slater. Now he's the best in the world. You see how the line loses meaning after awhile. Quote:
You know who Vince should take in? Annie Social. Mmm. Yes, mainly because she was in NWWL (which Jimmy Hart was involved in, as if that brings it any credibility), but she is pretty good in the ring. I've seen videos of her beating the shit out of men before, and she looked adorable doing it. Speaking of Annie Social, I got around to seeing "Kingdom of Gladiators" last week. It was terrible, of course. They didn't even try to get the accents right, and it was mainly boobs, metal, and bad fight scenes. Still, she was cute. Quote:

When Nexus first debuted and they ruined the Cena/Punk match, I was pretty mad. That match was going rather nicely, and the only good things from that beatdown was seeing Bryan choke out ring announcer Justin Roberts, and seeing the other two top prospects in Wade Barrett and Justin Gabriel. Everyone else, even Slater at the time, was shit. That continued for months. Essentially a bunch of green rookies being given the world. It only got better when they tried Cena joining, guys like Sheffield and Michael Tarver getting injured, and replacements in Husky Harris (now Bray Wyatt) and Michael McGuillicutty (Joe Hennig) coming in. Then the Cena angle pretty much killed all Nexus momentum since they didn't try to sell Cena being fired. What followed was New Nexus and Corre, and neither groups were really credible. Corre happened to be on Wrestlemania, so that's something. As well as Wade, Slater, and Gabriel holding championship titles. New Nexus, it was the CM Punk show, without him, they were less than nothing.
Simply put for Nexus. Great concept, bad casting. If they were to use more seasoned guys from the indy circuit, hell, some of the guys in FCW right now, they'd be more successful. About the Cena turn. Well, what about an nWo turn? As in, a duo coming in, making noise, they have a tag team match with Cena and some other hero, Sheamus or Rock. Cena turns on their partner, joins the group. As far as heel turning, Cena's more likely to take an extended break, than turn heel. In my opinion. About Velvet. She's 30? Really? I thought she was younger. I don't find her to be a bad wrestler, though I admit that she only improved as recent as 12 months ago. She runs the ropes better than Kelly Kelly, and maybe seasoning in FCW would help her nicely. That's if she would join WWE. I'd switch her for Kelly Kelly. Obviously she's not in Beth, Natalya, AJ's league, but she doesn't necessarily suck. Quote:

Nexus went from best thing ever to rubbish in record time. It only took a week. Didn't help that Bryan got fired for choking Justin Roberts ( who more than deserved it )
Wade had some great moments like throwing water at Cena, but it was more comedy than anything else at the end. Comical . |

I do not keep up with divas, but I like Velvet. I think the thing that impresses me more about her is that she started at the bottom and worked hard to get to the top. IMO, she wrestles to earn her matches, unlike the injured Layla, who had a title match instantly on return.

Which by the way, I'll say again, is not alien in wrestling. I'll specify the Cena issue. He had herniated disks, some neck problem after his SummerSlam match with Batista in 2008. August to November, he was gone, came back, his first match back was against, lo and behold, the top heel in all of wrestling, the world heavyweight champion, Chris Jericho. A heel who was going to be at work the next day, no departure yet. What happened? Cena won. Sure there was the hometown Boston story. Wait a minute. Ok, the same show, guess who else returned? I loved that moment by the way, JR sold the crap out of that. Edge came back from just healing nagging injuries, and he becomes the WWE Champion. |

About Velvet being too old for WWE's image. Well, Layla's 35. June 25 is her birthday...

Yeah, I was totally wrong about Velvet's age - I honestly thought that she was older than she is. But I still think her age will be a hindrance for her to get into the WWE. She'd have to do at least a year or two in FCW/NXT to learn the "WWE-style" and to just improve in general, IMHO. So she wouldn't debut until she was like 32 or even 33.
She's also had at least two chances to wow the WWE and hasn't made it either time (she worked a dark match in '05 and then tried out for the diva search in '07). It's one thing for them to have older* women on the roster, but those are the 'wrestle first, be hot 2nd' women, and Velvet would be more of a Kelly-Kelly/Alicia Fox eye-candy style of wrestler. Layla's 35 but hasn't been a T&A wrestler since the ECW-days and debuted on the roster when she was in her late 20s; Sara Del Rey will be over 31 when she debuts, but she's obviously a wrestler more than a model. *and I hate to use "older" for someone that's only 35 (or even younger), but in Vince's eyes that's old for a woman. |
