When JJ Abrams' came on board to inject new life into the Star Trek reboot movies, his work rightfully received rave reviews from both fans and critics.

He cast Nimoy as the older Spock meeting up and advising his younger self: perhaps the older Luke, Han and Leila will be introduced in a similar manner.

It´s always like this... lots of people are in a negative behavior before they even watched the movie

In my younger years

I was a big Resident Evil fan. I also was looking forward for the first movie. I watched it and than I decided one thing: Just let it come to you and don´t put your expectations to high before watching the movie.

Now I just let surprise myself, because it´s always the same... you´ve seen the original (Robocop, Star Trek, Star Wars, Conan, Dracula, ...) and you feel a little bit offended if someone is making a remake. In most cases the ramke isn´t that bad - or even a reboot.

I liked the first Star Wars teaser. A. is givin the fans what they want (lightsaber, mystery, M. Falcon, Storm Troopers, ...). I remember when I first saw the first teaser for the Star Trek movie. It also was something not really telling what will happen...

BTW I really like a lot of Sci-Fi stuff like Dune, Blade Runner, Star Trek, Star Wars, Battlestar Galactica, Battle Beyond the Stars, Alien, Tron, The Last Starfighter, ...
I like each style in it´s own way. OK sometimes it´s really cool to compare stuff, but that´s all.

So... just let surprise yourself

I usually screw myself up by having read the book first for most movies (yeah, I read a lot lol). Very few movies can compare to the book. Most don't even try...

I noticed that once the comics rights reverted from Dark Horse to Marvel,
Marvel couldn't begin reprinting the DH comics under their banner fast enough.

They are releasing "Marvel Editions" of those books.
I saw this one and Han Solo at Star's End earlier today.
They are re-releasing certain books under the Legends banner,
which tells me they are trying to pick and choose what will be canon
now that they own it instead of George.

My favorite Star Wars film is Empire by a long shot. Just too many great things. Then it's Jedi, and finally Star Wars.

I know a lot of people crap on Jedi, but I think there's a lot of value to it, especially the final duel between Luke and Vader.

And yeah, those are the only Star Wars movies that matter. Right now at least. maybe Abrams will bring back the awesomeness that Lucas killed.

Also, Marvel's new Star Wars comics are amaze-balls. Great stuff so far.

I'm one that actually liked the newer movies, not because of the acting, but because of the storyline and how they added the missing pieces together. One thing I find funny is how weak the original movies had their light saber duels. Luke and Darth Vader were both so slow back then lol.

The lightsaber battles in the prequels are one of the things I actually like least about them. The story is the worst thing though, because it doesn't make sense.

The fights in the prequels are just all show, no content. In the original, especially Empire and Jedi, they were fights. Luke got whupped, bad in Empire. And there was emotion and story behind those fights. It was more than clanging laser swords together. In my opinion, at least.

I know what you're saying, but in episodes 4 - 6, I expected the Jedi Killer of the galaxy to handle himself a little better than he did, not to mention his up and coming son... lol

The reason Star Wars (Episode 4) was so good was that all the characters were folkloric archetypes. We had a farmboy, a princess, a pirate, a beastman, a wizard, and two droid clowns. And George Lucas made it even better by shooting most scenes as tributes to other movies. We saw The Seven Samurai, Triumph of the Will, and The Dam Busters played out in the first movie.

Back in the late 70's Lucas knew he had shot his wad, so he hired a replacement director for The Empire Strikes Back. Damn good movie! But Lucas took control again for Ep.6 and resolved things not that badly.

I have seen the prequels. There are not prequels.
