Thoughts on SD

1.) AJ opening SmackDown? Yeah why not? AJ was about to reveal why she was kissing Kane. Vickie interrupted her. The two best females in WWE (AJ doesn't wrestle a lot, and Vickie isn't a wrestler. Hmmm) in one segment. Oh, and one of the best males, bringing out Dolph Ziggler. Ziggler said he stole the show on RAW, which he's actually right. Did he say AJ's a Hot Topic reject? AJ then went into Ziggler, making Vickie slap the shit out of her. Then she had a shit-eating grin. It was getting hot and heavy, but in comes CM Punk. AJ's now happy, as Punk basically talked down on Vickie. Broken record, but has a good line in Ziggler not coming through. Punk said Vickie was the voice of the pointless. Ziggler was a bit dissheveled, replying to Punk, but Bryan interrupted! He referenced AJ as the mistake that's commonly done by Punk and Kane, and how that plays into Punk's favor. Short but sweet, then Sheamus comes out! Holy cow. Sheamus called Bryan "Danny boy" bringing back memories of Bryan blaming AJ and stuff. Quickly got on Ziggler, then suggest a tag team match between the four men involved. AJ wanted to take care of buiness, but was stopped from attacking Vickie. All the 4 men involved, and the women, combined, made a fairly entertaining opening segment.

2.) The talent of all 4 men and 2 women involved made a quality opening segment. Just take that to the ring. A great tag team match featuring 4 skilled wrestlers. All 4 men did a good job, with Ziggler and Bryan making me imagine how a tag team involving them would be so cool. What the match established: AJ is a curse. She tried to stop Vickie from costing Sheamus the match, tripping her into the ring, distracting Sheamus too much. Ziggler got a handful of tights and actually beat Sheamus! While the distraction helped Ziggler, he did win more cleanly on RAW, so it balances each other out. The world title match participants got out to the crowd, and Vickie and AJ had a confrontation. AJ got pushed to the apron, as Vickie ran away. Kane came, carrying AJ in his arms. Whoa now, but Punk stopped him, and Kane just chokeslammed the indy schmucks. AJ once again does something strange to steal the segment. On her knees, making some facial expressions as if she was possessed by the Devil. Or getting off on the thought of Kane. Huhhh? The creative juices in this whole feud is copious, hence my thinking that this is the best angle in all of wrestling right now. There are many avenues to go, all 3 men and 1 woman are integral parts. What started as a one on one issue with two fantastic wrestlers has become a soap opera/psychologically enigmatic story. In today's WWE, such a tangled web woven, is rare. It's good.

3.) Brodus Clay actually cut a promo, addressing Laurinaitis and Show, wondering who Johnny got to put Clay on his back. Heath Slater! Slater got squashed in mere seconds. Slater ended up on his back. As Clay danced, Otunga jumped him?! I was totally taken off guard. Otunga clipped the knee and worked on it. They have a match at the NWO pre show on Youtube. Wow, have to hand it to them: actually making a bit of a backstory to the Otunga and Clay match, even though only 1 thousand or less people will watch the match.

4.) Beth Phoenix squashed Alicia Fox in a blink of the eye. Beth and Layla are going to wrestle at No Way Out. I hope it's not wishful thinking, Kharma comes back this Sunday. Something, Beth and Kharma to me is a potentially money drawing feud, and it's women's wrestling. Gasp!

5.) Hornswoggle's favorite RAW moment was when the Muppets invaded RAW. He got Muppet tattoos. John Laurinaitis came in just his crutch, and recapped the actions from RAW. He then brought out Big Show. Big Show went into how he was never allowed to outshine top WCW guys: Hogan, Sting, and Flair. OH! I liked that. He then talked about Vince McMahon in a good impersonation, and how he was on the sidelines, listening to Vince, while Cena and other faces became bigger stars. Very interesting that he related his smiling personality for years as acting like Cena. Didn't work for him, and he's happy about that. Deliberate, calculated, uncomfortable attack on Cena, unlike Vince (no remorse). Show looks at his match with Cena as his "first match." Hmm. Johnny Ace smiled throughout. Cole interrupts the two heels leaving, informing that John Cena's coming to SmackDown. What? Show's promo was great, with a pretty strong argument. That's what makes it better. Once again, his input in the Cena angle is what's holding it all together.

6.) Unbelievable: a promo video on a midcard feud, Christian vs. Cody Rhodes. Sweet stuff. Christian and Swagger had a nice little match. Short, but god work. Christian's frog splash is awesome, a lot of air.

7.) Booker T laughed at the two jobbers' jokes, which makes it funny. Once again, Booker referenced the indy circuit. I actually laughed a bit at that. Ryback's fallaway slam like move was done too far away from the other jobber. Squash, but why did Cole mark out at Ryback squashing two jobbers, as if he saw it for the first time. I think it's the 236th time, I lost count.

8.) Damien Sandow sounded really, great. He has sounded good so far, but I think he upped his talk a bit. I laughed, it was really nice. I thought this was going to be a full match, but no. A longer squash essentially. Ehhh, but Sandow did a good job. There's a bit of worry of whether or not Sandow is actually a good wrestler. No opening has been made to prove that. Until then, I can only say he's a nice talker. Tyson Kidd did a nice moonsault.

9.) Cena kicked Laurinaitis' door open, but nobody was there. That's a bit illegal, breaking and entering?

10.) John Cena got in the ring, said he's not hiding, but where is Big Show. Big Johnny interrupted, and said Big Show ain't coming. Johnny's blaming Cena for Vince's attack, and sent Big Show home. Cena wanted to knock out Johnny? Whoa now, but Johnny mentioned that Cena and Show will happen, no matter what. Cena just waylayed into Johnny as an asskisser and a peabrain chain smoker. Cena was getting too excited. Johnny laid down something. After what would happen here, if Show wins at NWO, Cena gets fired. Cena punched Johnny, stiffly it seemed, on the top of the head. Basically, Show loses: Ace is fired. Cena loses: he's fired. The stakes are higher, and now I'm more worried. Oh boy. Show wins, Cena's fired, meaning he takes some time off WWE until some angle brings him back. Or, Johnny is gone, Vince comes in Ace's place, as a ratings thing, heading to RAW 1000. Either way, this steel cage match got more "must-see."

SmackDown really was a 3 segment show. The beginning opener combined with the tag team match. The middle with Big Show's promo, and the ending with Cena and Ace. All strong stuff, everything else ranged from week to simply good. Not the strongest go home show, but it did build to the main matches.

If you've ever been on Ziggler's Twitter page you'll notice he has several pornstars on it. He's kayfabed before with them. There was also a time on Zach Ryder's show where Ziggler interrupts the show after taking a call from Brazzers. The name is clearly an homage to Dirk Diggler, but the WWE is too PG to pick up that aspect of his character.

I don't see Orton doing too many jobs in returning. The only reason why is because of the WWE's depth. Orton has produced pretty good ratings in the past, and while he's been lackluster the past couple of years, it's because not a very good face. I see them bringing him back and have him putting over a few faces before snapping and becoming (at the least) an upper micard heel again.

Wrestling Observer editor Dave Meltzer was asked by a reader during his radio show (available here) why WWE has not utilized Mick Foley on television more frequently since his return to the organization last November. He said this is due to wrestler/executive Paul 'Triple H' Levesque's lobbying, who is resentful of "The Hardcore Legend."

Meltzer reports Levesque deprecates Foley whenever his name is broached in creative meetings. While Brian Gewirtz, WWE's Senior Vice President of Creative Writing, feels Foley is creative and a good performer, Levesque thinks otherwise. He says Foley 'doesn't look tough' and can't be taken seriously as an in-ring performer.

A former WWE creative writer told Power Slam in 2008 under the condition of anonymity that Levesque would disparage Foley whenever he appeared for the company, and in the process, diminished his value in the eyes of Vince and Stephanie McMahon.

"Foley is an out-of-shape nobody," Levesque was reported as saying by the writer. "No one cares about him at all. Funaki puts more asses in the seats than Foley does. He should pay us for coming on our shows."

Meltzer believes the real reason Levesque still holds Foley in contempt is because he gets irritated over the consensus of his closest co-workers that his memorable matches with Foley in 2000 'made him a star.'

Foley has criticized Levesque in the past; he took several veiled shots at 'H in his 2007 autobiography The Hardcore Diaries. He also took issue online with Levesque belittling ring announcer Lilian Garcia with a remark he felt was hurtful during an April 2010 episode of Raw. Foley acknowledged then that he may have cost himself professionally for speaking out against Levesque, but felt he had to stand by his principles.

I don't really take stock in rumors or anything like that but I could see how this could be some what true. I just wanted to get folks opinions on this. I really would've loved to see the rivalry of Dean Ambrose and Foley reach TV, but if Trips is down on Foley then I guess that would never happen.

Honestly, that's a rumor I think is believable. I do remember Foley criticizing Hunter on his little joke on Lilian Garcia. I think it was a comment on her face, I hardly remember it and didn't really take it serious. I also remember his Hardcore Diaries book being a little critical of Hunter, based on their feud in 2000, and how Hunter might resent the idea that Foley made him a star. In hindsight, it's valid. Before 2000, Hunter got out of his burial from the MSG incident, and became King of the Ring in 1997, beating Foley. They feuded over the Summer, and Hunter's stock rose. HHH pinned Foley to win his first WWE championship. HHH's stay in the main event was more validated when he took out Foley. Now here's the thing where the rumor might not be true, or Hunter basically lied. I watched his 2008 DVD where he said it was a huge honor to face Foley in the Hell in a Cell match, where Foley retired (for now). It sounded like he respected Foley.

Though I remember reading HHH being a road block to Foley re-signing with WWE. What a shame though about the Foley/Ambrose feud being iced. Foley's hometown of Long Island is hosting RAW this coming Monday. What a perfect way to debut Ambrose, and get started on a Summer blockbuster storyline. Ehh, that could very well be HHH and Lesnar now.

I love HHH, but if that rumor is true, he's totally in the wrong here. Foley would be a great help on TV, backstage as well.

With Ambrose and Foley, in my head I pictured Ambrose just 'hurting' guys with either really devastating moves or objects then cutting promos on the whole 'Thanks Mick' stuff he was doing on Twitter. Mick then accepts Ambrose's challenge then they have a match at Survivor Series similar to the Brock/Cena one where it is just a straight up brawl.

But yeah he would be a major help on the promo front for getting a lot of guys and matches over.

I'm not so sure how much of a help Foley could be today. The last thing I want to see is a great khali style Foley hobbling about the place.

Might have something to do with Triple H , might not ? if what he said is true, sorry to say, but to the average fan those words are right.

I remember reading that in powerslam haha. I also remember this other article they had on Triple H . It was titled - that damn what? an alternative look at Triple H. This was when he was going through the kill everybody phase. Another anonymous former WWE writer said the only thing Triple H asked before a match was ''am I fucking going over'' ? he didn't paint Triple H in the best light, not like anybody did back then .

Last night SD was ok, but someone has to tell Damien Sandow that the purple and pink colors don't exactly go with the "Intellectual" guise he is showing... he looks like he belongs on the "Strawberry Shortcake" cartoon.

Also, just for kicks, since Sandow is the "Intellectual Voice", why not put him against Ryback..since all Ryback does is speak like a pre-kindergarten kid. Perfect match, eh?

Son of a bitch that's brilliant. I'm serious. That would be a solid feud that could start at say No Way Out. Ok, Ryback's not going to be left off the card. Just like the past PPVs, he will just be thrown in a last minute squash. So, to make it different, he should do the match, get interrupted by Sandow, get things going for a blowoff or something at MITB. It would make a good opener, or followup to a possible opening ladder match. Ryback's a member of the unwashed masses. Actually, more unwashed, at least fans in attendance can speak a sentence longer than 3 or 4 words.
