The women who enter the business are usually (but not always) already somewhat "disfunctional", and the work/people/environment is not very healthy or positive in most cases. While there are exceptions to "the rule", in most cases the business feeds the negative aspects of the ladies who enter it, as the demand to constantly go more extreme doesn't help. There are some women who managed to do essentially what they set out to do and leave "relatively" unscathed. Some manage to make a name of themselves and then amass a following so they can then do a somewhat "successful" post-legit-porn career (such as stuff on OnlySpam, I mean OnlyFans), or even exit the business entirely and recycle themselves into something with much less fan attention. But the truth is that suicides and overdoses are "common" (somewhat) in the business. In my opinion I feel that it may have gotten worse with the advent of internet-only porn (i.e. porn AFTER the physical media), because the whole "cyber-bullying" (is that what it is called?) appeared to be more direct. Couple that with "stars" becoming more replaceable and disposeable due to the high turn-over rate, and what you get is like a fast food industry where it's immediate consumption and a very short "evacuation"... If any of this makes sense! What I find sad is also the people they leave behind. These porn performers are/were human beings after all, and surely they had some friends and family who cared for them, somewhere. So leaving those people behind feels to me quite sad, because that is more fuel for the "civilian" masses to want to ban porn altogether. |
