Just wanted to post an example of excessive bitrate in upscaled files. Downloaded a Letha Weapons clip which had been upscaled by ShagB and also someone else who posts good upscaled videos. The original file had a bitrate of 7349kbps and filesize of 1.24GB. No way i'm keeping a file that size so i just re-encoded it at a lower bitrate of 2400kbps and a filesize of 423MB. I know it's just a single frame and moving video is different but I really don't see any difference in quality in the video as well. So there is atleast 5000kbps which is doing nothing. Also included ShagB's version for reference which came in at 330MB. Shag's version looks brighter but a little 'red-shifted'. Must be a chroma thing. The two source files seem to have been different because of the watermark and the audio on the other file was german while Shag version was english.

So, I will not be releasing anything until later this week.

I ran into some more system stability and determined it was my PSU being too weak. Apparently the 850W I was running couldn't handle a 7900x, 7900 xtx, 64GB DDR5 RAM, x3 NVME drives, x3 SSD drives, x4 SATA drives, x6 140mm fans, x3 120mm fans, multiple external devices, and a water-cooling pump.

So I upgraded to a 1200W and everything has been SOLID.

But the real delay is due to about 40 re-encodes for files I had ready to go. So now I have to re-encode them and the various resolutions and then upload them, get the links, etc. Why? I dug into the issue someone posted about having trouble playing some of the newer 10bit files. When I played them in VLC (not my usual player), they were super choppy, but in MPC-HC they work perfect. I did some research and test encodes and it turns out that quite a few players are not ready for the 4:2:2 10bit encodes I recently switched to.

My testing shows that 4:2:0 10bit is handled MUCH better. So I retooled my x265 scripts for future encodes. But that still leaves all of the others that need to be fixed.

The good news is that I plan to post at least 20 of them next weekend to get back on track.
