Now recently (as of the first few days of this year) with all this talk about the Intel Chip hack or something called Spectre and another called Meltdown, I have done a manual Windows Update check every week to other week or so in the past month and a half and still hasn't seen any official patches and fix for Windows 7 for it.

Like this bulletin by Microsoft about it. Most people won't read that or won't understand it and it doesn't give any links to the download location for any patches:

They already haven't been serious about supporting Windows 7 anyway for couple of years now.

Their actually was a kb download in January for the spectre meltdown you mentioned, i didnt download it as i wasn't sure what it was, after a bit of homework it was revealed it was crashing PCS and fuc9ing everything up for alot of people, Microsoft pulled it from the updates. I also have windows 7 auto updates turned off, i do however after the 2nd Tuesday of every month run it to see if a major security update is needed, stuff like office and the windows 10 harassment update i just always ignore and hide.

You do realize no technician from Microsoft will never personally call you to tell you about your computer right? they want your system number to get in and put crap on it, i got that call once, i told the guy to go blow up a building and hung up on him.

Of course..it's a well known scam.It's like the nigerian contacting you about money in a bank account.I rarely answer my landline phone for these very reasons now

As an avid fan of Windows 7 I decided to switch to 10 to see what all the fuss was about and after tweaking my system so that all of Microsofts ability to keep track of of stuff and uninstalled all of the bloatware via power-shell I must say I am glad I now use 10.

One time I spoke to a guy who was asking me to get on my computer so he could address some Tech Support issues so I talked to him for a couple of minutes, saying stuff like "yeah, I gotta boot it up" and so on. The I told him alright it's loading up and asked if he could hold on a sec. I sat the phone down and went in the other room to finish cooking dinner. There was no one on the line when I got back in 30 min

I just hope it gets extended, which was the point of this thread really. 1 negative sign though is that stores like walmart/best buy, atleast last year stopped selling any computers that arent windows 10, and i know new computers with windows 7 went off the market awhile ago, 2016 maybe? Like i said id be happy if it just go's till like 2022 or even 2021.

I've only been on Windows 7 around 4/5 months,was on Vista for around 10 years previously,it then had some kind of glitch,rather than a fresh install i had Windows 7 put on and it works perfectly on this 10 year old computer.

Vista was an abortion. I genuinely feel sympathy and empathy for you. 10 years with Vista. Fucking OUCH!

I have a mini PC in my bedroom which I rarely use partly because it has W10. My main PC in my living room is on W7. Although it has the horsepower to run W10, I refuse to "Upgrade it".

Maybe when MS pulls their fingers out of their ass and they stop making an OS designed for touchscreens AND they stop advertising in my W10 Start menu, I'll upgrade. I'm in no hurry with my W7 machine. I'm thinking about Linux Mint for my W10 machine; If I ever get the ambition to do it.
