Demaryius Thomas - Dead at 33
ENGLEWOOD, Colo. -- Former Denver Broncos wide receiver Demaryius Thomas, whose quiet demeanor belied a burning desire to achieve what he routinely called "everyday greatness," has died at age 33, according to police. Roswell, Georgia, police said Thursday night that Thomas was found dead in his home. Preliminary reports, according to police, indicated Thomas' death might have resulted from a medical issue. LaTonya Bonseigneur, a first cousin who grew up with Thomas, so close they considered themselves siblings, told The Associated Press that the family believes he died from a seizure. "He had been suffering from seizures for over a year, and we believe he had a seizure when he was showering," Bonseigneur said early Friday. "We're not sure when he died. We just spoke with him yesterday." Former teammates also noted Thursday night that Thomas might have been having seizures in recent months. The Broncos released a statement early Friday, mourning the loss of "an incredible player and a special person." "We are devastated and completely heartbroken by the sudden, tragic passing of Demaryius Thomas," the Broncos said. "D.T. was beloved by our entire organization, his teammates and coaches, and our fans. Recently retiring as a Bronco, we were very much looking forward to celebrating Demaryius for years to come as one of the greatest players in franchise history." The Broncos went on to add, "Demaryius' humility, warmth, kindness and infectious smile will always be remembered by those who knew him and loved him." Source - ESPN ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- He was one of the great receivers to play in the NFL.

Anne Rice, author of "Interview with the Vampire", dies aged 80
Anne Rice, author of the gothic novel Interview with the Vampire, has died at the age of 80. The American writer, who sold more than 150 million books, died surrounded by her family on Saturday night. She died due to complications resulting from a stroke, her son Christopher Rice announced on her Facebook page. "In her final hours, I sat beside her hospital bed in awe of her accomplishments and her courage," he wrote. Interview with the Vampire was published in 1976 and went on to be a best seller. It was later adapted into a movie starring Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt in 1994. She went on to wrote sequels to the book, forming a series called The Vampire Chronicles. Another of her books from the series, Queen of the Damned, was also made into a film in 2002. Rice also wrote erotic fiction under the pseudonyms Anne Rampling and AN Roquelaure, including Exit to Eden. "The immensity of our family's grief cannot be overstated. As my mother, her support for me was unconditional - she taught me to embrace my dreams, reject conformity and challenge the dark voices of fear and self-doubt," her son wrote. "As a writer, she taught me to defy genre boundaries and surrender to my obsessive passions." For those that never seen the film before...

John Madden dies at 85
John Madden dies at 85 Tuesday 12-28-2021 NFL Hall of Fame coach, broadcasting icon John Madden dies at 85 7:17 PM ET Hall of Fame coach and broadcasting icon John Madden died unexpectedly Tuesday morning, the NFL announced. He was 85 "On behalf of the entire NFL family, we extend our condolences to Virginia, Mike, Joe and their families," NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said in a statement. "We all know him as the Hall of Fame coach of the Oakland Raiders and broadcaster who worked for every major network, but more than anything, he was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. "Nobody loved football more than Coach. He was football. He was an incredible sounding board to me and so many others. There will never be another John Madden, and we will forever be indebted to him for all he did to make football and the NFL what it is today." Madden was only 32 when then-Raiders owner Al Davis hired him to coach Oakland in 1969. Before leaving the sideline for the announcing booth in 1978, Madden led Oakland to a 103-32-7 regular-season record and a victory in the 1977 Super Bowl. Oakland never had a losing record under Madden, winning seven division titles and making the playoffs eight times. Madden was enshrined into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2006, 28 years after coaching his final game. But he had gained even more fame as an analyst on NFL telecasts and for the football video game that bears his name -- EA Sports' "Madden NFL." Some players who have graced the Madden cover have struggled the following season, spurring the fan myth of the "Madden curse." Information from The Associated Press was used in this report. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ This really saddens my heart..... I just watched the John Madden Special on his life on NFL Network on Christmas Day and thought "When this man dies Twitter will go nuts with soo many posts about him and how great he was. "

(Note: This is coming from TMZ, so it should be treated with skepticism until/unless other source can confirm... with that being said, I hope this is in error, but I'll post this, just in case this is not a hoax... she was the victim of death hoaxes in 2014 and 2019.) Edit: Update... her agent Jeff Witjas has confirmed this tragic news. Betty White January 17, 1922 - December 31, 2021 Quote:
