Well, you know, Van Dam's been around a long time. He'll be recognized for the rest of his life. I don't think retiring from the business would stop him from getting laid. I'm no RVD fan, but that seems like a pretty pathetic reason to wrestle. It doesn't make a lot of sense.

Reason: Who could believe that I got an A in GCSE English?
Didn't his wife get very ill and that is partly why he left WWE ? I might be wrong but I think I read something about it . The part I was agreeing with was the motivation part. If somebody can ''light a fire under his ass '' then I'm sure it could be good . He is getting on a bit but he is not Hulk Hogan or Ric Flair , RVD was always over and could still add something . I think so any way . |

Yep, x3: RVD is married, his wife had cancer (I'm pretty sure she's healthy now) and it was part of the reason he left the WWE.
I know that he disliked the more hectic (and on-going) road schedule in the WWE, but I think he only has to work like a handful of dates each month with his TNA contract & still makes (presumably) decent money ... if he can't motivate himself for 5 matches a month, I can't see him going somewhere where he'd have to do more than that. You definitely set the bar pretty high with that one! Ha ha ha ... thanks for the write-up, though, I had to miss Smackdown last night and most likely won't get to watch the re-air tonight. I figure I'll download the Bryan title defense and just skip the rest. |

The highest point in his career was when he actually won the WWE Championship at One Night Stand from John Cena when Edge interfered in the match. That was such an insnae atmosphere in the Hammerstein ballroom that night that nothing he ever does in TNA will equal it. I think he just wrestles now to wrestle. He doesn't care about the glory and accolaydes anymore. And like a lot of guys, I believe he lives in the Tampa area, so why not work 5 dates a month doing something he loves and keep his name out there so if he does ever decide to call WWE again and say hey, any chance of me coming back, well then at least he'll still hav e some stock and not just a washed up has been.

I agree 100% that was his finest hour against Cena. If Cena wins we Riot ha ha, I was pro RVD at that time . back in 2006 I was still a little anti Cena. I was pissed off at Cena and mainly down to the edge/cena situation.

When Edge beat Cena after cashing in money in the bank and winning , that was real good stuff, the first cash in. Crowd was loving it, everybody at home was loving it. Cena getting the belt back so early against him was a crime. I'm used to all these quick title changes today but the edge situation was different, they were really on to something, he still turned out well and he is one of my favorites ever (he would be on my top 10 list. It will come some day) Just took this conversation from RVD to Edge but I will say at the time that it was a real wasted opportunity for him when he got busted with Sabu. I guess he didn't care, dude. |

I always thought that Vince & company were just looking for a reason to take the belts from RVD and to begin his de-push. Him & Sabu were hardly the first guys to get caught with pot, and RVD wasn't the first to get an OUI/DUI. IMO, the WWE never really wanted to push him as hard as they did, but he was just so over that they kinda had to.
The atmosphere for that show in the Hammerstein was off the charts, though, just a perfect storm of the right place for the right show. Especially when they shat all over the Batista/Big Show match, which cracked me up. And in terms of Edge: I always felt he needed a better finisher. His spear sucked because his heaviest weight was only like 240 lbs, and so it looked lame for such a skinny guy to knock dudes out with a shoulder tackle. But I think his run with Christian (before either blew up as singles guys), his run with Orton (Rated RKO) and most especially the beginning of the Rated R Superstar stuff (with Lita) were all awesome. He was never one of my favorites, but I did dig him as a heel more often than not. |

Lita and Edge were perfect together. Edge was a great heel and that is why he gets on my list. Matt hardy was probably crying or taking some medicine as this edge/lita thing was going on .
and you're probably right about any excuse to take the title off him. Vince just loved it even more that he had an excuse. It's like Ryder now with the RVD title win. The WWE didn't want to push Ryder but he did his thing to get over. I gotta give that to him. I'm not his biggest fan but he got himself over so WWE had tp push him. I can't see him getting any further but I have been wrong before. I never thought he would make it as far as he has . Fair play to him. Kane should kill him tomorrow, Kane says that Cena is responsible for the death of Ryder ( he's not really dead of course, he will be back next week ). Cena is conflicted and making stupid faces blah blah blah. A couple of things interest me for Raw . What will Jericho do next ? Dolph Ziggler vs Cm Punk vs my man John Laurinaitis. The Cena vs Kane thing is whatever. |

Edge and Christian are probably one of my favorite all time teams. They were so great together not only in the ring but on the mic too. In fact, I bought Edge's Decade of Decadence or whatever it was called DVD just for the special feature of Edge and Christian...the rest was just bonus material..haha. I also liked it when Edge cashed in his very first Money In The Bank on Cena and became WWE Champion for the first time. It was so unexpected and I was actually shocked when it happened.
As for Raw tonight, I am looking forward to it. It's good to see Ziggler in a main event feud even of Laurenitis is quite involved and I'm interested to see where they take this whole Kane/Cena thing. I personally think it's a bad idea getting Ryder involved as well...he's the US Champion. He should be having his own feuds and not being tacked onto Cena's feud just because they are buddies. And Jericho...whatever he does will be gold in my eyes. |

My favorite teams were the ones that were so overpowered they just destroyed their opponents. The Road Warriors and the Steiners were amazing.
