No one should die that young. Well, maybe a few should have, young Adolf, young Josef, but not her.

People in the biz knew she was circling the drain a long time ago. I heard stuff that she would show up almost passed out for scenes sometimes, and have to go sleep for a few hours just to do a scene. Someone in her family finally came to grab her and haul her back to Florida, but she was turning tricks for streetwalker rates soon after. Kagney's mother did the same thing, but she basically locked her in a house in the Midwest until she finished her meth DT's.

As for being "bullied," sorry: if you try a stunt like that and don't know your surroundings, you're gonna hear about it. Especially if you slap it on the internet for public view. I haven't seen anyone pull a Jackoff Wheeler and tell her how to off herself ala August Ames. I'd guess her brain was sufficiently dependent on finding money to support habits ingrained long ago.

Porn is a rough life, and anyone who says that porn "stars" don't carry heavy negative baggage with them for the rest of their lives had ingested too much Kool-Aid from the fanbois who ply these discussions. The "industry" cares not one whit about these people. Calling it an "industry" kinda insults the concept of industry. It uses people and spits them out because something newer and shinier comes along to satisfy what they guess are their consumers' wants.

I should just generalize that sex work outside of porn is an even rougher life. Anyone wanna advocate for changing the "age of consent" after stuff like this? I didn't think so. Well, I know one of you probably does, and that makes you the mf'ing idiot of year.

I will say that she was definitely among the group of young starlets whose appearance changed noticeably over a short period of time due to drug use.
Perhaps I am mistaken but this seems much more of a problem in the last decade than before (obviously there was drug use in the industry before but it seems to wreck a lot more starlets' lives and careers nowadays than it did before).

Yes, very true. Dakota's face got very heavy, and her voice even changed somewhat, too. She often sounded slurred and tired.

Yeah, but I think the people in her life (family) were the problem to begin with. She needed to get away from that crowd, but she put herself even deeper in it when she got into porn, because so many of them are like that, too. It takes a lot of strength to take a good look at one's problem and do what the solution requires. Unfortunately, Dakota either never really took that good look at herself, or she wasn't strong enough to do what was required. Ugh! I hate that this happened to her.

I was going looking through her work and she's so enthusiastic and fresh-faced to start out with in 2014 and 15, but there was a visible decline in 2017. Maybe the initial excitement of porn and her new persona made her briefly forget her problems.

From what her aunt wrote online, it seems Dakota came from a very difficult family environment and the drugs/booze were a way out.

This "Internet bullies" thing seems like some tabloid/social media bullshit to link her tragedy to the issues of the day and people's agendas.

The girl had drug problems for years that clearly stem from a traumatic upbringing.

The whole thing is tragic and fucking sucks. I don't want to sound like a simp, but she deserved better.
