Yes, Micro$oft has always been chasing Macs: I believe Vista was rushed in before it was ready, so as to counter the influence of OSX Leopard.
Such behaviour is consistent with Bill Gates' company: they are forever trying to copy what Mac has to offer. The problem is compounded by a significant user base that is so brand loyal, that it stoically opposes the very rational idea of venturing out of the Windows environment. Good luck to all the early adopters...

An additional (and quite ironic) problem that Microsoft had in the past was that people actually complained that their new versions, in particular XP, were not different enough from the previous version. The "experts", those doing the reviewing (some who might actually have been experts, but many who were no more than casual users) blasted XP when it was introduced for not incorporating major changes. "Why spend money on a new system that's just like the previous one?", they all whined. It's funny in retrospect, seeing as how things turned out when MS did make wholesale changes just for the sake of making it look and act differently. Personally, I liked that XP wasn't all that different from Windows 2000; of course, the first thing I always do when encountering a Windows system is to change everything to "classic" mode.

that is just what we've seen so far on the internet about upgrading to windows 7 if you already have vista they meant it we think as more of a time-saving issue than anything else, it is a bear to completely upgrade it would seem that advice to stay where you are, at least for now until all the bugs are out of windows 7, was of course given if you have vista already working well on your system and they all said a clean install is the only way to go PS HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!!

I agree, I would never do an upgrade because it leaves a lot of garbage behind that you really don't need.
After an upgrade, half the folders in your Program Files folder contain stuff that doesn't work. That means you have to reinstall those programs. When you reinstall a newer version of a program over an old one, many times it can leave behind unneeded files. The better way is to uninstall it before you reinstall, but in an upgrade there's no true option to uninstall. So with an upgrade you always end up with a lot of clutter that's just taking up space, and unless you're a computer geek you don't what you need and what you can delete. In Win7 they don't give you the option to upgrade, what they do give you is the option to keep everything that's already on the drive. They'll take everything and place it into a separate folder on your C drive so you can pick through it and recover the files you still want. When you're done, you can just delete what's left of that folder.

I'm running Windows 7 right now and it's already using over 1GB of RAM, XP would be using less than half of that. I also looked at the hard drive and it's already used up over 25GB and I don't even have everything installed yet, XP would be using less than 5GB at this point. I would say the Windows 7 is far more of a resource hog than any other version of Windows so far.
I agree with that. When I do a fresh install of XP, it starts up and shuts down really fast before I get everything installed. Tweaking brings back some of the performance, but not all of it.

I don't plan on getting windows 7, I tried Vista and did not like it and i don't expect windows 7 to be any good either, especially to start with, it most likely will be full of bugs like all other versions of windows were when they first came out.
I think I'll stick with XP, at least it's been around a while and they have fixed "most" of it's problems and it works with all my current software and hardware. |

if you read my comment, i did say win 7 is better than vista by along way. xp is still a good os but for how long ? i remember about 6 or 7 years ago 2 gig of memory was alot of ram in a pc, now min ram most users have is 4 gig. the problem is xp 32bit will only see 3.4 gig of ram. i would think having xp pro on a laptop would be far more better than vista or win 7. but i would say give it 2 or 3 years and 90% of pc,s and laptops will have win 7 32bit or 64bit. its just a matter of time.
