Because, in the end, that's what he really is.

He's just a fraud, unlike Bezos, which he REALLY has an engineer degree and DID actually created something himself.
Even I, if I was a billionaire like Musk, and had bought General Electric or Rolls-Royce I could've said that I make airplane engines and cars, even though I know shit about electric cars systems and airplane engines.

I'd suggest familiarizing yourself with Musk's biography, because most of what you wrote above falls well short of the truth. I think semantics is getting in the way a bit, but ultimately everyone should be able to agree on a few basic truths here:

1.) Yes, Musk doesn't have engineering certification. In that very limited sense, you're right that he's not an engineer . . . but of course this is not the sense in which people use the term "engineer." Not to patronize, but the definition of "engineer" is "a person who designs, builds, or maintains engines, machines, or public works." By this definition, Musk is obviously an engineer, because he's been intensely involved in the design and construction of countless devices related to the production of his fleets of cars, robots, rockets, etc.

2.) The concept of engineer is hence much larger than merely having an engineering degree or certification. Lots of people do engineering work without such things, many of them brilliant, such as Steve Wozniak or indeed Nikola Tesla himself. Musk is also one such person, as he has 28 patents to his name, many of them engineering-related. Comparing engineers to medical doctors is thus not the best analogy. 3.) Musk's ability to run physics simulations in his mind enables him to understand engineering problems on a deeper level than most people only trained in engineering. His engineering teams will often test the ideas he's had and try to verify if they'll work in reality. Sometimes they don't, but typically they do. His ability to visualize the physics involved in his designs is exceptional, which is why those who've worked with him up close view him as a very gifted engineer.

Yep. I've also kind of tapped out, because it seems you'll never change someone's mind when they undyingly idolize a cult leader, even if that person "Threw his heart to the crowd".... There's obviously no point in further debating the matter. As David Hume said, it's better to leave off people who are deaf to reason, and perhaps later on they'll come to their senses on their own. I suppose at the end of the day it's moot whether you want to call Musk an engineer or not (even though almost every sensible person would agree he is) since it really has no bearing on the enormous amount of good he's accomplished. In fact it's a rather banal and irrelevant topic to be debating in the first place, because of course Musk is so much more than just an engineer -- most engineers never even receive a patent, for example, while Musk has dozens -- and there are so many more interesting topics that are worthier of discussion. But if you want to get bogged down in trivial matters of nomenclature, that's your choice.

I don't really care if he's likeable or not or if he invented anything or not, lot's of inventors thru history were arrogant & were credited with inventions that they had little or nothing to do with, someone working with them or for them did most or all of the actual work.

What matters to me is things that were done by him, or his employees/companies, and new things still to come were and are needed and can make things better for a lot of people.
Those things take money, tons & tons of money, at least we should be able to agree he's good for that and the world can benefit from what his money can accomplish.

I don't care who gets things done, just that they get done.
